Trump threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act to deploy more armed agents to Minneapolis and stomp out protests against his violent regime.

"If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don't obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT," Trump ranted on Truth Social.¹

The Insurrection Act gives the White House extraordinary discretion to declare that a domestic "insurrection" is underway and to deploy U.S. military forces against the American people.² Congress must get rid of this outdated, dangerous law that Trump could use for an unprecedented armed authoritarian takeover.

Trump’s far-right security forces continue escalating the terror and chaos in Minneapolis while Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem spread mountains of vile, far-right propaganda.

After an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good, Noem called Good’s actions "domestic terrorism," and falsely asserted that Good "weaponized her vehicle to conduct an act of violence against the law enforcement officer and the public."³ After Border Patrol murdered Alex Pretti, Stephen Miller called Pretti a “would-be assassin.”⁴ All heinous lies to cover up the crimes of this administration.

In October, Miller called a judicial order demanding that Trump follow the law a “legal insurrection.” He then said, “This is an organized terrorist attack on the federal government and its officers, and the deployment of troops is an absolute necessity to defend our personnel, our laws, our government, public order and the republic itself.”⁵

Noem, Miller, and the rest of the Trump administration are spreading lies to stir their base and justify murdering civilians. Congress must take action to stop Trump from invoking the Insurrection Act.
