A NEW RED HAT

California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom opened up his very own “Patriot Shop” to raise money for the redistricting effort, while also mocking Trump. It includes a red hat, reading: “NEWSOM WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING.” They even have a listing of a $100 “Holy Bible”—too bad it’s “sold out.”
KILMAR SPEAKS OUT

A large group of activists and faith leaders protested in support of Kilmar Ábrego García yesterday, outside of the ICE field office in Baltimore.
Before being detained, García gave some inspiring words and implored the crowd: “Regardless of what happens today with ICE, please promise me that you will keep fighting, praying, believing in the dignity and the liberty for not only me, but for everyone.”
García had rejected a bogus plea deal, which gave him two absurd choices: serve time in prison and then get deported to Costa Rica—or possibly be deported to Uganda. García’s lawyer declared: “He won't plead guilty to charges he's not guilty of.” Good.
While many feared ICE would deport García immediately after detaining him, a federal judge told the DoJ they were “absolutely forbidden at this juncture to remove Mr. Ábrego García from the continental United States.”
THE REAL EPSTEIN HOAX

Yesterday, the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed the Epstein estate for financial documents, NDAs, flight logs, his will, anything that could be construed as a “client list,” and more.
They also asked for that notorious “birthday book,” in which The Wall Street Journal alleges Trump wrote one of the creepiest messages ever to Epstein. Lawyers for the estate have said in the past they will comply.
Trump keeps lying about the entire scandal, calling it a Dem hoax—which no one seems to be falling for. The real hoax is what Trump and his regime are doing to cover up the truth.
But a bipartisan press conference featuring Epstein survivors is just weeks away. And late next month, Alex Acosta—the architect of Epstein’s 2008 plea deal—will testify before Congress. So this story absolutely isn’t going away.
PRITZKER NAILS IT

At a press conference yesterday, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker strongly condemned Trump’s threat to deploy the National Guard to Chicago.
Pritzker spoke directly to Trump: “Do not come to Chicago. You are neither wanted here, nor needed here. Your remarks about this effort over the last several weeks have betrayed a continuing slip in your mental faculties, and are not fit for the auspicious office that you occupy.”
He added: “Most alarming, you seem to lack any appropriate concern … for the members of the military that you would so callously deploy as pawns.” This is the kind of fire all Governors need to bring.
Pritzker also had a message for the press: “I am asking for your courage to tell it like it is. This is not a time to pretend here that there are two sides to this story.”
There aren’t two sides to this story. There is truth—and there are Trump’s lies. One of the reasons I became a journalist was because so many in the profession simply weren’t doing their jobs. It’s only gotten worse over the last decade.

SCOTT, the gerrymander fight is on. There is a new playbook. The old rules have been struck down by the Supreme Court. Surely I am not the only one that sees this, and it is by far our best avenue. We need to change the gears here as fast as possible for deadly preemptive strikes. Newsom has moved out on this already. Who is next? Hochul. Where are you? Pritzker. What are you doing? Scott, please take this battle on.

Pritzker is doing exactly what we need to do now. We need to decide as a nation to stop this cruelty, not tolerate MAGA’s sadistic behavior.
I have been paying attention to Pritzker. He continues to show steadfast leadership and has combined that with a gift of public speaking.
I am so grateful you have highlighted this push back. Between the latest responses from Pritzker, Gavin Newsom, Wes Moore, and the PEOPLE we are starting to see some solid consolidation of resistance in this fight. We need to see more, and more often. These three have charisma that should not be wasted. Publicize as much as humanly possible. I would like to see all the blue states with the Democrat "trifecta" support each other publicly, collectively protect their constituents, and rally together enough momentum to push these fascists out before they further damage this country. They are clearly instigating division. We need instead to fuel feed unity.
