Some More Great News That’s Bad For TrumpFeaturing 60 Minutes, Cory Booker, Sarah McBride, Raphael Warnock, and moreAs we start another week of the Trump regime’s out-of-control dumpster fire, I’m happy to have more good news for you today. I hope it inspires you, and serves as a reminder that there are so many amazing people fighting this tyranny alongside us. This week, there are protests scheduled across the country. If you can’t attend, remember that amplifying these events online is essential—every share makes a difference. I’ll have more details on this all in the coming days. On Sunday, Dem Sen. Cory Booker and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries held a 12-hour “sit-in” on the Capitol steps. It was a live-streamed protest against the un-American GOP funding plan. They were joined by incredible speakers throughout the day. Dem Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia had this to say: “I hear people attack poor people and act like it’s a crime to be poor ... They do all of this in the name of Jesus … Jesus is the biggest victim of identity theft in the United States.” Dem Rep. Sarah McBride shared some uplifting words, stating: “If we summon our hope, then we will find the light and turn this moment into … a slingshot moment … where we are pulled backwards, but the tension and pressure of being pulled backwards, ultimately propels us to destinations that we have not yet been.” Sen. Booker asked: “Do you think we got the right to vote for women because a bunch of men on the House floor got together and said ‘on the count of three, women get the right to vote?’ That’s not how it happened … change doesn’t come from Washington. It comes to Washington.” Sen. Booker closed with a powerful call to action, receiving a large ovation: “Will you stand up, and hold up your light? Will you stand up and demand justice? … Will you stand up and say, ‘Not on my watch!’” After Judge Hannah Dugan’s arrest, former AG Eric Holder called out Kash Patel for violating DoJ policy—when he tweeted out a “perp walk” photo of the judge in handcuffs. Wisconsin Court of Appeals Judge Pedro Colón blasted the Trump regime over Dugan’s arrest, saying: “What they want to do is essentially have the judiciary … succumb to their power and their policy positions. Independent of Constitutional rights … That’s not the way we do business in a democratic country.” At the end of 60 Minutes last night, correspondent Scott Pelley criticized the show’s parent company, following the resignation of legendary producer Bill Owens. “[Owens] resigned “for us, and you,” Pelley said. “Stories we’ve pursued for 57 years are often controversial … Bill made sure they were accurate and fair. He was tough that way.” Pelley closed by saying: “But our parent company ... Paramount, began to supervise our content in new ways … Bill felt he lost the independence that honest journalism requires. No one here is happy about it. But in resigning, Bill proved one thing: He was the right person to lead 60 Minutes, all along.” This is why our revolution in independent journalism is so essential for the future of news. We can’t afford to have corporate overlords beholden to Trump, deciding what is and isn’t reported. Our job as journalists is not to bend a knee. We must stand tall. We must be fearless and honest. And we must expose these corrupt liars for who they truly are. Something I’ve done for 3,373 days straight, even while facing constant threats from maga. I will never give Trump or his regime an inch. Not for one second—never. Our activism arm—The Watchdog Coalition—dominated social media last week with 750 million impressions on our protect Medicaid and Social Security campaigns. And our Contact Congress initiative has now sent 278,035 letters, and made countless calls. Our articles were #1 on Substack News for most of the last week.
