Take Action: Hold insurance giants accountable for investing in fossil fuels

Public Citizen and our partners just revealed new data showing that 10 of the top North American fossil fuel insurers have also invested billions of dollars into this dirty industry.

Our planet is in a climate emergency. We can't allow massive companies to invest in fossil fuels and prop up the industry that is destroying our climate.

But these insurance giants, including American International Group (AIG), Travelers, and Chubb have funneled over $59.7 billion into fossil fuels.

This is unacceptable.

Click here to email the top executives at major insurance companies. We must call on them to stop funding an unlivable planet and invest in our future instead.

Here’s what else you should know:

  • AIG had the largest fossil fuel investments of the bunch, with $24.2 billion!
  • These companies invested $30.8 billion in oil and gas — enabling the industry’s dangerous buildout of new infrastructure;
  • And they also invested $1.9 billion in tar sands and $272 million in coal.

Just imagine how these billions of dollars could help us transition to clean energy and fight the climate crisis if the insurance companies felt pressure to do the right thing!

As massive investors, insurance companies should be financing clean energy, not boosting up the destructive fossil fuel industry.

Will you take a minute to send a message directly to the CEOs of these insurance giants and demand they stop investing in climate disaster?

Thanks for taking action,

Hannah
