Over $500,000 raised for groups doing deep canvassing in Georgia

 

Without Democratic control of the Senate, Mitch McConnell is going to do everything in his power to continue the policies of the Trump era. At best, we’ll see brutal gridlock that blocks any chance at COVID relief, a $15/hr minimum wage, paid family and sick leave, a path to citizenship or climate change policy. At worse, we’ll lose the Affordable Care Act, DACA, reproductive rights and other basic liberties to McConnell’s new conservative majority in the Supreme Court and be powerless to stop it.

But there’s hope. On January 5th, two Georgia Senate races will go through run-off elections. If we can win both, our hope for progressive change returns before 2022. Winning both of these races is a massive challenge, which is why Team AOC jumped in to help.

So far, we’ve helped raise over $500,000 for groups doing on-the-ground organizing, deep canvassing, and community advocacy in Georgia. Now, we’re kicking things up a notch, and pushing to raise at least $1,000,000 for these groups by January 5th.

That can’t happen without your support. Today, we’re asking you to split a contribution between our campaign and Mijente PAC – an organization that’s been on the ground in Georgia for the last 4 years boosting Latino turnout. Will you step up?

After the runoff was announced, we sent several emails to fundraise for six different grassroots groups in Georgia. And, thanks to you, we raised over $500,000 that went entirely to those organizers. But now, we’re asking you to split a contribution between one of these groups and our campaign. Here’s why: with control of the Senate on the line, Mitch McConnell and the entire GOP infrastructure are ramping up their attacks on Alexandria and our movement. They’re casting her and the progressive policies we all believe in as dangerous liabilities, and some establishments Democrats are starting to get spooked.

We know that running on progressive policies is not just morally right, it’s strategically smart. We saw how a $15/hr minimum wage passed in Florida even when Trump carried the state, and how Black Lives Matter helped register over a million voters. We can’t let establishments Democrats get scared into abandoning the very policies and grassroots movements that can make our Party successful.

We are fighting back against Mitch McConnell’s attacks, but they are coming at a particularly vulnerable time. Every campaign sees a major dip in fundraising after the election, and Facebook has temporarily banned any political fundraising ads.
