Jennifer Pippin Got 34 Books Pulled In One Night. "Thank Goodness. I'm Glad."
She went after a children's book about a girl who saves banned books, and won. Now she is running for the board that pays for the public libraries. Robbie Hardingham is in her way.
Jennifer Pippin got 34 books pulled off school library shelves in a single night.
A reporter told her later that most of those books had not been checked out in two years.
Her answer: “Thank goodness. I’m glad.”
Pippin chaired the Moms for Liberty chapter in Indian River County, Florida. In August 2023 her chapter packed a school board meeting with people reading passages out loud. Under state law, if a speaker gets cut off for reading something inappropriate, the book can come off the shelf.
That is how 34 books left in one meeting. Pippin said it saved everybody a lot of time.
Moms for Liberty has chapters across the country. The state of Florida liked her work enough to put her on the committee that reviews school library books.
She Did Not Stop At 34
Pippin challenged a children’s novel called Ban This Book. It is about a fourth grader who starts a secret library of banned books.
The district’s own review committee read it and voted to keep it. The school board overruled them and pulled it anyway, 3 to 2.
One board member who voted to pull it explained why: “The title itself and the theme challenges our authority.”
Now She Wants The Library Money
Pippin won the Republican primary in August for a seat on the county commission. That board funds the county’s public library system.
She would be one of five votes on that budget. The seat is open, and the general election is November 3.

He Wants The County To Explain Every Vote In Plain English
Robbie Hardingham was born in Vero Beach and graduated from high school there in 1994. He served in the Army, came home, got his commercial license in 1998, and has driven trucks ever since. His signs say it plainly: Not a Politician.
He is running to make the county post simple summaries of everything the board votes on, so nobody has to sit through a meeting to find out what got taken away. He also wants housing and rides to the VA for veterans. His line: show up, do the work, and be accountable for what you were trusted to deliver.
One Door At A Time
A county race is won on doorsteps. Most voters there have never heard about the 34 books she banned.
In a small race like this every dollar matters so much.
