By the time this newsletter hits your inbox, Kamala Harris will have unveiled her economic policy agenda in a speech in North Carolina. Most of the details of her plan have already been reported. They include a major expansion in the child tax credit, easing housing costs, and targeting price gouging for groceries.
I'm no economist and I generally don't care to comment on subjects like "the market" and "interest rates." But I do know, with near absolute certainty, that whatever Harris outlines in her speech today will be a helluva lot more normal than the economic speech Donald Trump delivered on Wednesday.
Oh, are you surprised to hear that our incredibly astute former president failed to stay on message? That instead of economic policy, Trump railed against Tic Tacs and tampons? That he used much of his remarks to personally attack Harris? No, of course you're not surprised. But the contrast between whatever the hell this was from Trump and a speech that has yet to even happen—but again, that I know will actually include substance—is always worth pointing out. All this while the Biden administration continues to take on Big Pharma. It's the economy, stupid, indeed!
