Stop the attacks on animal protection!

Mother pigs confined to steel crates … unable to turn around… or barely move at all. That’s the reality for countless pigs in industrial pork facilities across the country. Their extreme confinement is senselessly cruel and leads to a host of physical problems including infections from being left in their own filth. In addition to this physical suffering, these intelligent animals endure psychological torment from their extreme caging. We've made great strides working to eliminate the use of extreme confinement methods like gestation crates, most notably through the passage of California's Proposition 12, our nation's strongest farm animal welfare law. But much of that is at risk thanks to a segment of the pork industry and their allies in Congress who are set on using this year's Farm Bill to nullify Prop 12 and other state-level animal welfare laws. We MUST stop this attempt to “fix” Prop 12, and we urgently need your help to win this crucial fight. Please, will you make a donation of $20 or more to the Humane Society Legislative Fund today to ensure we have the resources we need to defeat the Prop 12 “fix,” fight for a humane Farm Bill and advance our work to protect all animals from harm? The current partisan House version of the Farm Bill contains dangerous language attempting to “fix” Prop 12 that is really just a handout to giant multinational pork producers that want to keep farm animals locked in cruel and extreme confinement. But it's not just state laws protecting animals who are at risk. If successful, it could open the door for greedy industries to block other laws protecting people—allowing them to cut corners and sell products like food with arsenic or other toxins and meat produced using exploited labor.
