Tell Trump’s Interior Department: Yosemite Is Not for Sale New reporting just exposed that Trump’s Interior Department is considering carving up Yosemite National Park to help a private developer. But we can still stop it. Kingsbarn Realty Capital owns roughly 83 acres next to Yosemite and wants better road access to the property. For years, the National Park Service resisted efforts involving access through the park. Now federal officials are considering a land exchange that could make the developer’s plans easier. But Yosemite belongs to us, not politicians. And we need to stop them from handing it off like a political favor. Tell Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and the National Park Service: Stop this deal before it goes any further. Do not transfer Yosemite land or grant special access that benefits private development Current and former officials have reportedly described unusual political pressure on the National Park Service to accommodate the property owner, although the Interior Department denies politics is driving the process. Interior says the proposal is still under consideration. Once a transfer or access deal is approved, stopping it becomes much harder. That's why taking action now is critical. And If federal officials start treating national park boundaries like bargaining chips for private interests, Yosemite will not be the last target. Tell Congress to overturn Citizens United! SUBSCRIBE TO CIVIC SHOUT AND JOIN WITH OTHER TO PARTICIPATE IN IMPORTANT ACTIONS! The scale of billionaire money in U.S. politics just reached a new extreme. A new investigation by The New York Times found that just 300 billionaires and their family members poured about $3 billion into the 2024 federal elections — more than double what billionaire donors spent in 2020. Much of that money flowed through super PACs and outside groups made possible by the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. Before Citizens United, billionaire spending made up less than 1% of political donations. Today, it accounts for about 19% of all federal election spending. According to reporting highlighted by The Guardian and analysis from Americans for Tax Fairness, much of that money backed far-right candidates aligned with Donald Trump — politicians now pushing policies like tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefit the ultra-wealthy. Critics warned this would happen when Citizens United opened the door to unlimited political spending. Now, a tiny group of billionaires can spend billions to influence elections — and then shape the policies that follow. That’s not democracy. Congress has the power to act by advancing legislation and a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and restore limits on political spending. ICE is detaining U.S. citizens. Congress must act.

 

Tell Congress to investigate ICE now! A U.S. citizen TV producer in Chicago was tackled and detained during an ICE raid. In Portland, another citizen was arrested outside his workplace and held for hours. These are not isolated incidents — they’re part of a growing pattern of Americans being wrongfully detained by immigration agents. ProPublica reports that more than 170 U.S. citizens have been held by ICE this year alone. Many were jailed for days, denied legal counsel, and left without answers. The government doesn’t even track how many citizens it detains. Congress must investigate now. We’re calling on the House Judiciary and Senate Homeland Security Committees to open public hearings, subpoena ICE records, and tie future funding to oversight and accountability.
