Good News That Is Bad For Trump
Onward.
After another Monday of Trump and Musk’s garbage, I’m happy to deliver more positive news for you today. I hope it gives you some relief—and shows you that great people are standing with us in this fight against tyranny.
Protests being held today are expected to be the largest against Trump and Musk so far this year. Massive demonstrations are planned at all state capitals, and in other major cities across America—coinciding with Trump’s joint session in front of Congress tonight. If you can’t stand to watch it, don’t worry, I’ll give everyone a recap tomorrow morning.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Chris Murphy, Sen. Ron Wyden, and others announced they will not be attending Trump’s lie-filled propaganda-fest tonight. “I think it’s gonna be a farce,” Murphy said, calling it “a maga pep rally.” Wyden will be holding a virtual town hall, open to everyone.
Yesterday, more than 1,000 people rallied near the Boulder, CO campus of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)—to push back against Trump and Musk’s cuts to the agency. One protester held a sign that read: “TRUST SCIENCE NOT TRUMP.”
Tom Di Liberto, who was fired from NOAA via email, made a great point that these firings will actually cost America money in the long run. “NOAA makes sure that people, and places, and communities, and buildings, don’t suffer disasters as strongly as they otherwise would,” Di Liberto said.
In Silver Spring, MD, Sen. Chris Van Hollen joined hundreds of attendees outside NOAA HQ—calling DOGE an “illegal operation.” Rep. Jamie Raskin, who was also there, said: “If you believe in facts, if you believe in science, if you believe in the truth, you need NOAA.” Raskin added: “A rally a day keeps the fascists away.”
Last night, a federal judge extended a pause on firing staff from the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. The judge asked the DoJ if “making sure consumers are protected from abusive practices” was “inconsistent with policy priorities of this administration.” The DOJ didn’t have an answer for that. In a separate case, another judge refused to lift a block on Trump’s awful anti-DEI orders, while it’s out on appeal.
Leader Hakeem Jeffries slammed Trump’s ridiculous lie that Dems are paying people to disrupt GOP town halls, saying: “We don’t need paid protesters.” When it comes to “Republican efforts to slash and burn Medicaid benefits … The American people are with us.”
Lastly, Rep. Jasmine Crockett blasted Trump, and said what most us are thinking: “As far as I am concerned, Donald Trump is an enemy to the United States. When you are literally putting us at risk, because you want to convince your followers you should be a dictator.”
Rep. Crockett is absolutely right. Trump is an enemy to the US—and that’s why we’re fighting back, every single day. We’re independent journalists who will always give you the facts, without cowering to Trump, or kissing his ring.
In addition to reporting the news, we formed The Watchdog Coalition to direct our activism efforts. It’s where we run our enormous contact Congress campaigns—making countless calls, and sending more than 195,000 letters in the last few months.
And just yesterday, we used our social media network—which is one of the largest in politics—for our “Don’t Defund Public Schools” messaging blitz, which got 250 million impressions. While our “Don’t Touch Our Medicaid” campaign has already garnered more than a billion impressions.
Momentum is starting to build, but we need all hands on deck. All of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. We have no outside investors, and we remain ad-free.
So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today:
No matter how you subscribe, I appreciate you.
Onward!
