URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Stop proposed crude oil project that could KILL endangered sea turtles and threaten coastal communities! >> Sign now! Picture this: once beautiful blue ocean waters contaminated with dirty oil. Nesting grounds for Kemp’s ridley sea turtles and marine birds have been destroyed. The local fishing economies are devastated, and respiratory illnesses in coastal communities spike higher and higher. In the Gulf South, where the U.S. Maritime Administration plans to approve the Texas GulfLink oil export terminal, the offshore pipeline leak rates are 10x higher than the national rate. We cannot let coastal communities, ecosystems, and wildlife be sacrificed for a greedy polluter’s profits. There are only a FEW DAYS LEFT for public comments opposing the Texas GulfLink project – your immediate action could help us STOP this disastrous project! Tell the Maritime Administration to CANCEL the Texas GulfLink export terminal by 11:59pm TONIGHT! Greedy polluters are trying to build this Texas GulfLink project in a county that already does not meet national clean air standards for ozone. For communities living near the proposed facility, the air quality will significantly worsen from pollutants like benzene and carbon monoxide! Greedy polluters have accepted sacrificing the health of Gulf communities in order to churn out more profits for far too long. The Maritime Administration must not allow this to continue. But we need at least 7,129 more signatures by midnight tonight to reach our goal of pushing back! Please, will you stand with Gulf communities against greedy polluters and their toxic projects? Standing with you, Marcie Keever, Oceans and Vessels Program Director, Friends of the Earth |
