MAXWELL FROST: DeSantis is a hypocritical fascist

 

Ron DeSantis is a fascist. He is abusing his power to advance his own personal political ambitions and hurting Floridians every day he remains in power. Here are just SOME of the atrocious things he has done this past year: Banned books about Black and brown history from our public schools Banned gender-affirming care for trans youth Replaced public university leaders with his extreme MAGA lapdog friends and gave them TWICE the salary to destroy our schools Proposed a permitless carry bill that would allow Floridians to carry concealed firearms without a permit OR training Tried to revoke the liquor license of an event venue in my district because they hosted a drag show Rejected an African American Studies course from the AP curriculum and then “celebrated” Black History Month at his mansion Gathered personal medical data on transgender university students and educators If you disagree with Gov. Ron DeSantis, he’ll abuse his power to close down your business, take over your school, remove your classes, and unconstitutionally fire you. Our differences make our state a stronger, more just place. They bring us together, and help us fully understand what Ron DeSantis really is — a fascist. We’ve got a fight ahead, but community will always triumph over hate. That’s why I need you with me. We have no choice but to use our collective power to make sure DeSantis and his extremist MAGA cronies know we won’t back down.
