In 2019, when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced the Green New Deal in Congress, Nancy Pelosi condescendingly referred to the historic piece of legislation as “the green dream or whatever they call it.”
The Democratic establishment doesn’t understand how urgent the climate crisis is. As AOC and Sunrise Movement protested in Pelosi’s office in 2018, Democrats didn’t recognize how valuable the activists were. The establishment was just mad their power was being challenged.
We must keep challenging their power and elect more progressives to pass the Green New Deal and save our planet. Chip in $10 right now to strengthen our fight to elect new leaders and transform the Democratic Party.
It is going to take so much of our activist energy, grassroots support, and fierce commitment to winning policies like Medicare for All and a Green New Deal. The Democratic establishment answers far more to their corporate donors than to the people of this country. And their corporate donors don’t want Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and other progressive priorities to pass because wealthy corporate executives will lose money.
That’s why the work that started with recruiting and electing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2018 must continue with increasing energy. We saw how the climate protest in Pelosi’s office shook things up and got the Green New Deal discussed across national media outlets. We’ve seen the leadership of Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, and The Squad on the most pressing issues of our time. Now, we need to keep advocating for change and electing more working-class progressive leaders.
Can you donate $10 right now to build our movement and win progressive legislation like a Green New Deal? While the Democratic establishment is raising big money from corporate PACs, we rely 100% on contributions from folks like you.
In solidarity,
