COVID-19 deaths hit 150 in Barnstable County

The state Department of Public Health on Monday reported 157 new cases of the coronavirus in Massachusetts, including four in Barnstable County.
The total number of cases now stands at 104,659 for the state and 1,561 for the county.
Monday’s new cases included six probable cases with positive antibody tests combined with symptoms or exposure. The rest of the cases were confirmed by molecular tests for the live virus.
State officials said there were 15 new deaths due to the coronavirus, including one in Barnstable County. The fatality count now stands at 7,983 for the state and 150 for Cape Cod.
Hospitalizations across the state for the virus were a fraction of what they were at this time two months ago. A total of 603 patients were hospitalized with the coronavirus Monday compared with 3,564 on May 6.
Of people currently hospitalized for treatment of the virus, 99 are in intensive-care units.
Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis and Falmouth Hospital each had three coronavirus patients Monday with none in the ICU. 
More than 64% of deaths of people with the coronavirus in Massachusetts — 5,184 — occurred among residents of long-term care centers.
State officials said 23,555 residents and employees in 369 long-term care centers have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.
State officials said 7,726 new individuals had received molecular tests for coronavirus, for a total of 893,939 individuals and 1,134,568 tests.
Public health officials said 169 new individuals received antibody tests Monday for a total of 75,795.
