I have about 15 minutes of free time in my schedule today. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but with a schedule like mine, and six days to go until Election Day, I can assure you it’s a gift.
And while I know you probably get a lot of emails like this, I want to take a few of these minutes to tell you about my commitment to this movement.
There’s no doubt that these are perilous, unprecedented times.
Trump’s second term in the White House is proving to be the existential threat to our nation that I and many others knew it would be.
The cost of living is skyrocketing while the rich get richer. We’re months deep in a stupid and destabilizing war with Iran. ICE violence has been unleashed across the nation with the blessing of the President. Corruption is running rampant at every level of this administration. And MAGA continues their attacks on our democracy and access to the ballot box.
The Project 2025 agenda is playing out before our eyes. I am committed to fighting back with everything I’ve got.

Troy Jackson, the Democratic US Senate nominee for a critical seat in Maine, denounced Vice President JD Vance on Monday for downplaying the killing of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a 25-year-old Colombian national who was killed by a federal immigration agent last month in Biddeford.
During a visit to Maine on Monday, Vance told residents who are “so worried about that situation” to “have a little bit of perspective.” Vance added that “we can absolutely investigate every shooting and we will, but we can also secure our border and ensure that that poison stops coming into our country.” (The legal representative for Durán Guerrero’s family said no federal agencies have reached out as part of any investigation into the killing.)
Jackson, the former president of Maine’s Senate who is running to unseat Republican US Sen. Susan Collins, responded to the vice president in a video message posted to social media.
“JD Vance is a dirtbag,” said Jackson. “There was a young man who had a Social Security number, he had a job, I mean, he had a life. He had a family. To come here and say, ‘Have some perspective’? You ought to have some damn perspective. I mean, you don’t even know what the hell’s goin’ on. You got a rogue agency that’s going around, pulling people out of homes.”
Jackson then turned his attention to Collins, who recently voted for legislation that included around $70 billion in funding for US immigration agencies, including nearly $40 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). After an ICE agent killed Durán Guerrero last month, Collins refused to say she regretted her vote to boost the agency’s funding.
“I want to know: What are you doing about it, Susan?” Jackson asked. “She gave them an additional $70 billion to pull this shit off. We lost a person that JD Vance seems to not give a shit about. And that should piss us all off. So I want to know: Do you agree with JD Vance dismissing the killing of this young man? Because I tell you what, ‘concerns’ and all that does nothing for all of us, does nothing for that family, and I’m sick of your ‘concerns.’”
During his remarks in Brewer, Maine on Monday, Vance said Collins is “doing an amazing job” and characterized her as “the most independent member of the United States Senate,” even though she votes with President Donald Trump around 96% of the time.
Misha Linnehan, a spokesperson for the Maine Democratic Party, said in response to the vice president’s remarks that “Susan Collins voted to give Donald Trump and JD Vance $70 billion to send armed ICE agents into Maine with no guardrails.”
“Now that a man has been killed,” said Linnehan, “JD Vance thinks Mainers need to ‘have a little bit of perspective’ about children losing their father and a wife losing her husband—does Susan Collins agree?”

Both of Donald Trump’s endorsed candidates narrowly prevailed on Tuesday in their respective Republican primary runoffs.
Appointed Sen. Darline Graham held off Rep. Ralph Norman 52-48 in the contest to replace the late Lindsey Graham, the incumbent’s brother and immediate predecessor, as the GOP nominee in South Carolina. Graham, who scored a lower percentage of the vote than her sibling’s underwhelming 57% share in June, will be the favorite against pediatrician Annie Andrews, who won the Democratic primary two months ago.
Meanwhile Mike Mazzei, a former Oklahoma state senator, won the party’s nod for his state’s open governorship by an even tighter 50.3 to 49.7 spread against Attorney General Gentner Drummond. Mazzei, who also secured termed-out Gov. Kevin Stitt’s endorsement against Drummond, is the frontrunner against state House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson, who won her Democratic primary in June.
Graham and Mazzei each benefited from Trump’s endorsement against intraparty opponents who sought to take advantage of their unflattering debate moments. Andrews responded to Graham’s win by challenging the senator, who said on stage last month that “I’m not that informed on national security,” to a minimum of three debates.
Outside groups also mobilized to boost both of Trump’s candidates.
AdImpact reports that Graham and her allies spent over $7 million during the two-week GOP runoff, compared to only $2 million for Norman’s side. The intervention was just enough to give Norman the unusual distinction of losing a primary for governor and Senate in the same year.
An affiliate of the hardline anti-tax Club for Growth, meanwhile, targeted Drummond for defeat. Politico, citing data from AdImpact, reports the group spent $8 million against Drummond, an effort that included ads claiming he suffered from “TDS: Trump derangement syndrome.” Trump himself also piled on with Truth Social posts blasting Drummond.
Everton Blair will become the first gay person to represent Georgia in Congress following his victory in Tuesday’s all-Democratic special election to replace the late Democratic Rep. David Scott.
Blair defeated activist Marcye Scott, the daughter of the late congressman, 54-46 in the special election runoff for the remaining months of the older Scott’s term representing Georgia’s 13th District. Blair will be succeeded in January by state Rep. Jasmine Clark, who defeated him in the May primary for a full term in the new Congress.
State Rep. Heath Howard announced Monday he was dropping out of the Sept. 8 Democratic primary and endorsing Hampton Selectwoman Carleigh Beriont, whom he pitched as a progressive alternative to the two frontrunners.
“Our bootstrapped campaign led in the polls as the anti-establishment challenger to Stefany Shaheen and Maura Sullivan,” Howard said in a statement. “Now, it’s time to pass the torch to someone with the funding, the ground game and the momentum to take this home.”
Howard’s decision to back Beriont rather than continue his campaign for New Hampshire’s open 1st District comes as Sullivan and Shaheen attack one another on the airwaves while ignoring the rest of the field.
Sullivan, who served in the Marines, debuted a commercial on Tuesday featuring fellow veterans condemning “lies” from Shaheen, a former Portsmouth city councilor and the daughter of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
“Maura doesn’t take a dime from corporate PACs or AIPAC,” the cast says, with three different people each reciting a segment. “Stefany’s the kind of person that was born on third base and thought she hit a triple. I want a fighter, not a fancy last name.”
Sullivan launched her ad one week after Shaheen aired a spot accusing her of getting “90% of her campaign money” from outside the state, including “$300,000 bundled from AIPAC donors.”
A recent poll from Saint Anselm College showed Sullivan edging out Shaheen 26-24, with Beriont in third place with 12%. Howard was in fourth with 7%, while each of the other five candidates trailed still further.
