A flood watch is in effect for the western half of Massachusetts today, due to torrential downpours in the forecast. According to the National Weather Service, Boston's chances of rain don't pick up until this afternoon. Meteorologist Danielle Noyes has a step-by-step breakdown of what’s ahead here. Now, to the news: Remote works: Massport officials are extending the pilot program that lets some Logan Airport passengers check in and go through security in Framingham. And as WBUR’s Andrea Perdomo Hernandez reports, they're planning to bring more remote terminals online in the coming years. "We are delighted that this is working," Massport CEO Rich Davey said yesterday. "We are delighted that we are the first in America to be doing this. And frankly, we're delighted that we are getting some FOMO . We've had a couple of airports already reach out, a couple of our airline partners who are not part of this today looking to join us, and a couple of cities and towns in Massachusetts as well." - More time: Davey said the remote terminal was originally planned as a three-month pilot to see if the novel idea "took off, so to speak." (Airplane pun.) It did. The terminal counted its 10,000th user yesterday. According to Davey, demand has increased every week since the terminal opened in June — to the degree that they need to find more parking space. He announced yesterday that the Framingham location will now run until at least next March and that Massport is in talks with its bus contractor to expand its hours and add more trips.
- More airlines: Massport is also looking to open the Framingham terminal to additional airlines. Currently, you can only use it if you have a JetBlue or Delta flight. "There are definitely a couple of airlines — United in particular — that's been chomping at the bit to get part of this," Davey said. That will take "a little time," he added, because Massport would need to create space at Terminal B for a post-security drop-off spot.
- More locations: This fall, construction is also slated to start on a "permanent" remote terminal in Braintree, as part of a 2,000-space parking garage project there. Davey said the second terminal could open in about two and a half years. Massport is also in talks with Massachusetts Convention Center Authority about yet another remote terminal at Boston's Hynes Convention Center. However, those plans haven't been finalized yet. (Boston Business Journal has more details on the potential Hynes plan here .) Meanwhile, north of Boston, Davey is looking at Woburn and Danvers, according to CBS News.
- The big picture: Logan airport served more than 43 million people last year, and officials expect that number to hit 53 million annually in the next decade or so. The remote terminals are part of the airport's efforts to reduce individual car trips to the airport to prevent a potential traffic nightmare.

End of an era: After nearly three decades, the final location of Boloco is closing. The Massachusetts-based burrito chain announced yesterday that its last restaurant at 50 Congress St. in downtown Boston will shutter for good on Sept. 25. (The building has been sold and is being converted to apartments.) In the meantime, Boloco promised one last free burrito day before it closes.
