You may have recently seen photos of Donald Trump “working” at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania. The stunt came after Trump repeatedly (and without evidence) claimed that Vice President Harris had lied about her experience working at McDonald’s during college.

While all political photo ops are staged, this one was taken to an entirely new level. The Pennsylvania McDonald’s was closed for the day, meaning the “customers” and employees seen in the photos and video clips were nothing more than actors in an elaborate performance staged by the Trump campaign.

Here’s the photo to prove it:

While some in the media properly covered Trump’s stunt, many including The New York TimesCNN, and Fox News, didn’t:

During the stunt, Trump declared, “now I’ve worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala,” calling her “lyin’ Kamala.” He ignored reporter questions about raising the minimum wage and once again dodged fully committing to accepting the election results if he loses.

The real story behind Trump’s McDonald’s photo op should have been a slam dunk for the legacy media. This isn’t about campaign tactics or Trump’s supposed love for fast food. It’s about calling out Trump’s latest attempt to spread baseless lies about a political opponent.

It was childish, obvious propaganda. Yet, some legacy media outlets terrifyingly ignored that, choosing instead to cover the stunt as if it were a wholesome moment of Americana.

The Washington Post wrote:

“Trump has long been a fan of McDonald’s, and once filmed an ad for the fast-food chain. During a 2016 CNN town hall, Trump told Anderson Cooper that his McDonald’s meal of choice was the fish delight…”

On CNN This Morning, host Kasie Hunt and guest Kristen Soltis Anderson gushed over the staged political theatrics. Soltis Anderson said:

“Like he has always sort of portrayed himself as I’m the rich guy who doesn’t really like the other rich guys. I’m one of you, and this is part of this. I think this was insanely smart!”

And America’s newspaper of record, The New York Times, opened its coverage of the photo-op with this charming line about Trump, a man who has repeatedly threatened to use the military on his political opponents:

“Donald J. Trump walked into one of his favorite restaurants on Sunday and declared he was “looking for a job.”
