the precipice of war — or peace It's time for PEACE!

SPEAK FOR PEACE!

Headline after headline reminds us we’re on the precipice of a major regional war in the Middle East.

But the thing about a precipice? Falling off isn’t a foregone conclusion.

Reports are shifting by the minute, but one thing is certain: What happens next will be the difference between de-escalation and more war.

The suffering we’ve witnessed so far is incalculable, but the death toll could skyrocket even further. The Biden administration must immediately use its influence to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and lead the kind of robust diplomacy capable of charting a path to peace across Israel, Palestine, and beyond.

It will be anything but easy. That’s why, our team is going into overtime: Steadfastly pushing the Biden administration and Congress to use their influence for peace, while furiously pulling hawkish allies and U.S. decision-makers back from a devastating regional war. Just one of these efforts requires our focus full-time, but with violence increasing, we need to dig deeper and find ways to go further, fast — and that’s why we’re reaching out.

If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly:

In the past few days alone, strikes across Gaza, Golan Heights, Beirut, Tehran, and more have not only endangered prospects for a ceasefire and the return of remaining hostages to their families, they’ve also exponentially increased the odds of a disastrous, region-wide war.

Here’s the latest: On Wednesday, Hamas political bureau chair Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran.[1] In a televised speech the next day, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, “For months, people haven’t stopped telling me, ‘end the war.’ I didn’t surrender to these voices then, and I will not now.”[2] Axios reports that Israeli officials expect the ceasefire negotiations to “be suspended in the immediate term”.[3] Within hours, Ayatollah Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran’s government, issued orders for a direct strike on Israel.[4]

The path to war may feel inevitable, but even amidst so much fear and suffering, it's still a choice — which means peace is still possible.

How can we be so sure? Because for well over 300 days now, people like you have been part of an inspired movement of people pushing us away from the violent reality we face and toward something better.

It’s how we helped secure a ceasefire in November, pulled the Biden administration away from war with Iran in March, urged the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Gregory Meeks to hold back from signing off on new weapons sales in April, and persuaded over 100 members of Congress to ignore PM Netanyahu’s calls for more war just days ago.

But our work won’t stop until the U.S. government is using ALL its influence for good, until every hostage taken by Hamas returns to their families, until the Israeli government’s war in Gaza ends, and until we’ve found our way back to a pathway to a sustainable peace in Israel, Palestine, and beyond.

The status quo isn’t delivering peace — the ability to live and thrive without the threat of violence — for anyone. The past ten months have already shown us one option: Violence spilling across the region. Full-blown famines and the re-emergence of diseases like polio. Hospitals and safe zones being bombed. Tens of thousands of deaths.

But people like you don't accept that fate. That's why, together, we'll build toward a different vision.

Let's use this moment to push the U.S. government to do all it can to end the violence in Gaza, get the hostages home, and build toward a lasting peace. EVERY dollar donated now and always fuels our work to push U.S. foreign policy toward peace and justice and away from war and profit. Please fuel our work in this urgent moment of crisis today.

Thank you for working for peace,
