The price of climate change

On the last day of an already-appalling session, the Supreme Court gutted the Environmental Protection Agency's ability to regulate carbon emissions through the Clean Air Act. Not three weeks later, Congressional Republicans (and, it's worth noting, a few Democrats) blocked legislation to combat climate change.

Because evidently, the floods in Yellowstone, the heat dome in the Midwest, wildfires in the west, and hurricanes in the east – not to mention the deadly heat wave currently consuming Europe – don't bother the radical ideologues on the bench or the Big Oil apologists in Congress.

I know you've had enough of this crap. I have, too.

We're leading the fight to elect a Congress with the backbone to stand up to corporate polluters and pass the bold environmental agenda our country needs. Chip in to build the movement!

Individual action is great, so keep recycling and cutting your plastic usage. But we also need to take large-scale action: no new fossil fuel leases on federal lands, holding industrial polluters accountable for the damage they've already done, ending the ridiculous, lethal billion-dollar subsidies to Big Oil, and investing in clean, renewable energy.

Our dependence on fossil fuels is sinking our economy, making our nation less safe, and killing our planet.

The science is clear: we need to act now. I'm committed to this fight with every fiber of my being, but I can't do it alone.

Please contribute $3 now, and let's elect the climate-focused Congress who'll join me to get the job done.

More soon,

Jim
