Team Bragg Newsletter
Thank you for the great response to the first newsletter. We very much appreciate you taking the time to learn more about the work of D.A. Alvin Bragg. As always, we welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
Continuing the Investigation of Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization
The investigation concerning former President Donald J. Trump, the Trump Organization, and its leadership is continuing. In the long and proud tradition of white-collar prosecutions at the Manhattan D.A.’s Office, Bragg is investigating thoroughly and following the facts without fear or favor. Read more:
D.A. Alvin Bragg, State Senator Brad Hoylman, and Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal penned an op-ed in the New York Daily News urging the legislature to pass and the governor to sign “microstamping” legislation to enhance the ability of law enforcement to solve violent gun crimes and help deter future crimes. Microstamping is a new technology that puts an identifiable code on the cartridge casing each time the gun is fired. This legislation would play a critical role in reducing gun violence by giving police and prosecutors the power to solve more crimes, enabling cops and DAs to arrest, prosecute and ultimately punish the perpetrators in more shootings and murders. That’s why it is so important to get it done now. Read the full Op-Ed here.
Ensuring Crime Victims and Survivors Voices are Heard
As part of the D.A. Office's commitment to center crime victims and survivors and ensure that their voices are heard in decisions impacting their lives, D.A. Bragg joined Bronx D.A. Darcel Clark, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and The Downstate Coalition for Crime Victims at the 37th Annual Crime Victims Candlelight Vigil. The event included powerful speeches from survivors, including Katrina Brownlee, a domestic violence survivor who was shot 10 times by her partner, leaving her paralyzed. Despite the trauma she faced, Ms. Brownlee was able to become a first grade detective – a testament to her incredible strength and perseverance.
D.A. Bragg stopped by the ARC A. Philip Randolph Senior Center to chat with residents about elder abuse, fraud prevention, and keeping our older adults safe. Call the Office’s Elder Abuse Hotline at 212-335-9007 if you or someone you know is a victim of elder abuse.
Mentoring Younger New Yorkers
D.A. Bragg joined the Brotherhood Sister Sol to celebrate the organization's new headquarters in Harlem. The Manhattan DA Office is proud to have invested $2.2 million from its Criminal Justice Investment Initiative in this building, so BroSis’ physical space matches the powerful work they do with young people. As D.A. Bragg said, "to know BroSis is to know love, hope, and community."
