![]() Our national forests hold some of our last pockets of nature, where trees grow uninterrupted as far as the eye can see. Yet these unbroken stands of trees could be carved apart and chopped down. 45 million acres of our national forests could lose protection.1 You can defend our national forests from logging, mining and road-building. Urge the Forest Service to keep our national forests wild. Beneath a canopy of needles and leaves, cool streams flow and wildlife flourish. America's wild forests are where we find hidden trails and swimming holes. They're where we go for fresh air and perspective, to reconnect with the natural world. But some would rather treat our wild forests like tree farms, cutting away acre after acre until the forest is just a shadow of its former glory. Last fall, more than 600,000 people told the Forest Service to continue protecting 45 million acres of our national forests. We got their attention with that outpouring of support for trees and wildlife and trails. The agency has yet to make a final decision -- will they save our forests or let them be cut down? We're on the precipice of one of the biggest decisions for nature, and we need your voice. It's time to step up for our forests once again. Be a guardian for our national forests: Add your name now. For 25 years, these 45 million acres of forest have been off limits to damaging activities like building a road, logging or mining.2 As a nation, we decided to protect these wild forests rather than tear them down. Through the Roadless Area Conservation Rule, forests have stayed intact without major roads cutting through them. Last year, the Forest Service began the process of repealing the Roadless Rule.3 But there's still time for us to act before they fully dismantle our forest protections. Tell the Forest Service: Don't roll back protections for our national forests. Thank you for speaking up for our forests, Lisa Frank |
