Evidence and Proof

Russian organized crime in the U.S. started in the mid-1970s. This development was partly attributable to diplomatic efforts by the Nixon administration, which encouraged the Soviet Union to moderate its position on immigration as a demonstration of goodwill. Consequently, around 200,000 Russian-Jewish refugees immigrated to the United States during this period. Analysts say the KGB released hardened Russian criminals from prison in a manner similar to Fidel Castro in the 1980s. While “Russian organized crime” typically denotes groups originating from Russia, the term also encompasses criminal organizations from the Baltic Republics, Georgia, Chechnya, Azerbaijan, and other regions of Eastern Europe. (NCJRS)

Many of them were settled in or near Brooklyn’s Brighton Beach. The “Odessa Mafia,” active in the U.S. from 1975, was known for fraud, extortion, and drug trafficking. These groups often targeted other immigrants and allied with existing crime syndicates – like Italians or those from Mexico. By the early 1980s, the Odessa Mafia had moved into Los Angeles and San Francisco, with Las Vegas following shortly thereafter. Their activities included extortion, drug trafficking, money laundering, arson/bombings, counterfeiting, fuel tax fraud, prostitution, credit card crime, auto theft, and Medicare and Medicaid fraud schemes. (Ibid, NCJRS)

“The Russians have also shown a propensity for violence almost unequaled in the United States. This brutality and savagery come from centuries of desperation and life in Russia and the Soviet Union with leaders as far back as the Peter, the first Tsar who lived from June 1572 to February 1725, to Vladimir Putin who has a penchant for extreme brutality. If you talk to victims of the Russian war in Chechnya or the citizens of Ukraine you will hear stories of torture, kidnappings, mass graves, and sexual violence. I once learned of a local translator who was abducted and her arm used to extinguish cigarettes. She was then sexually assaulted and killed.

“The roots of Russian military brutality run deep. During World War II, the Red Army earned a reputation for its harsh treatment of both enemies and civilians. As Soviet soldiers advanced through Eastern Europe, they left a trail of destruction, including widespread rape and looting. Stalin once infamously suggested that rape was a reward for Soviet soldiers liberating Eastern Europe from the Nazis. In cities from Berlin to Budapest hundreds of thousands of women were brutally abused and those who resisted were shot.” (CEPA, “Why Are Russian Troops So Bestial?”, March 18, 2025, written by Julius Strauss).

I spent twenty years in the USSR and Russia. I witnessed the fall of communism, the rise of a fledging democracy, and then the clandestine take-over by the KGB/FSB -based Vladimir Putin’s government – the same form of government utilized by Stalin. I was a woman who headed up three-multimillion-dollar US nonprofit organizations, working in a country where women were disrespected and dismissed. I thrived because I adapted, becoming bi-cultural and using my gender strategically. My main advantages were being American and fluent in Russian.

The Moscow Business Guide wrote a warning for all foreigners who wished to work in Russia: “The most fundamental concepts that have guided your judgement for a lifetime are not even known, much less understood here.”

Russian criminal bosses in the U.S. have in the past brought in assassination brigades from Russia for contract killings, especially those whose expertise is poisons. Members of Russian organized crime have no fear of American law enforcement or the prison systems.” (Ibid) In fact, many Russians call our prison system ‘nothing more than a paid vacation’.

Craig Unger, an award-winning author, has researched and presented evidence about Donald Trump’s ties to Russian organized crime and to Vladimir Putin. House of Trump, House of Putin provides a thorough examination of the longstanding connections between Trump, Putin, and the Russian Mafia, which contributed to Trump’s presidential victory. This book’s research and narrative is presented in a detailed and factual manner, giving the American public and government the who, when, what, where and why of critical, convincing, and provable information.

The peak of Vladimir Putin’s efforts to weaken Western democracy, was a campaign that involved Trump through financial support from Russian oligarchs after his Atlantic City casino failures. This book argues that the Cold War evolved rather than ended in 1991, with Trump’s properties serving as a legal channel for Soviet money to exit Russia. Unger traced this money, as did the Wall Street Journal and several other investigative journals, only Unger provides the detailed FACTS.

Unger also interviewed Oleg Kalugin, a Russian who was the senior manager of KGB operations in the U.S. for decades. He said “during his tenure, there were about 300 Russian assets in the U.S. He confirmed that Donald Trump was one of them.” (Ibid, Unger)

My daughter Lize worked at the Beverly Hills casino and nightclub in Moscow as their bookkeeper. The ‘Beverly’ was known for underage prostitution. She knew who paid for what services, and yes, Trump visited several times. Just like every single hotel room in Russia has cameras in the rooms where foreigners stay, so did the ‘Beverly.’

“Without Trump, Russia would have lacked a key component in its attempts to return to imperial greatness. Without Russia, Trump would not be president,” and would have declared a seventh bankruptcy, and would be serving time in prison for his convicted crimes. (Unger, House of Trump, House of Putin) From the January 6th insurrection to the war in Iran, government actions have led to significant setbacks and failures. The Robert Mueller Report, the January 6th Committee Report, and the Jack Smith Investigation have ALL tied Trump to Russia. These are independent investigations of Trump and Russia, not a Democratic initiative.

Trump lost the 2020 presidential election, and within months his first wife mysteriously died. The public was first told she fell down her steps, then she hit her head, and finally the Trump family said she had abdominal injuries.

Jessica Aber, age 43, suddenly died in 2025. Her family said her death was natural. She was the former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and investigated Russians in the U.S. accused of conspiracy and fraud.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, was kidnapped in February 2026. “In 2020, Savannah Guthrie moderated a nationally televised NBC town hall with Trump. Guthrie pressed him directly on his refusal to clearly disavow extremist groups and conspiracy movements, including QAnon. The exchange was tense, but it was not extraordinary. It was journalism. Trump did not treat it that way. In the days that followed, he publicly attacked Guthrie, calling her a “crazed lunatic” and accusing her of being hostile and unfair. (Joyce Strong Substack) Mr. Trump is vindictive, and Reuters has identified at least 470 instances where retribution was directed at individuals or organizations. Reports from 2025 and early 2026 indicate Donald Trump’s second presidency focuses on a retribution agenda targeting political adversaries, critics, media, and reporters who have opposed him. The Guthrie ransom note demanded $6 million dollars in Bitcoins – very unusual for a kidnapper. There have been over 200,000 kidnappings in the U.S. and no previous perpetrator has requested payment in bitcoins. This fact may tie this crime to Mr. Trump. Trump promised a crypto revolution, but now the bitcoin industry is crashing. His ties to Russian Organized Crime (ROC) in the U.S. adds to this mysterious disappearance.

And Trump’s 15-year close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein cannot be ignored. Pam Bondi has repeatedly claimed that all documents were released, though some may have been withheld. These documents include approximately 50 pages of FBI interviews and notes concerning Mr. Trump. In the end, Bondi appears to be covering up for Trump – a man who was legally labeled a “sexual predator” in the Carroll Case conviction. According to documents from the U.S. Justice Department released in early 2026, there are newly discovered details indicating significant connections between Jeffrey Epstein and RussiaThese revelations have led to an investigation into possible links with Russian intelligence. Although there is no definitive proof that Epstein acted as a spy, the records indicate he built relationships with Russian officials, tried to arrange a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, and oversaw a network involved in bringing young women from the region. Maxwell may know the truth.

In the January 6th Committee Meeting, Cassidy Hutchinson, a White House Aid said, “Trump said he is terrified of being poisoned.” This statement is not only about fear, but a statement of guilt. He knows that the Russian Poison Factory in Moscow, which has operated continuously since 1921, uses unidentifiable poisons to kill Putin’s enemies.

Trump’s damage and destruction of the United States, our government, and our democracy are extensive – but then he is paid well for these tasks. Evidence and proof from several sources show Trump is a Russian asset working on behalf of the Russian government. What he gets in return is his life, the lives of his immediate family, and enough income from Russian sources to support his lavish lifestyle.

A Tsunami of Foul-Smelling Wastewater is Sweeping Across the United States

A Tsunami of Foul-Smelling Wastewater is Sweeping Across the United States

A tsunami of foul-smelling wastewater is sweeping across the United States. It hit Washington, D.C. first leaving pungent echoes of racist narratives about urban crime. “President Donald Trump has taken control of D.C.’s law enforcement and ordered National Guard troops to deploy onto the streets of the nation’s capital, arguing the extraordinary moves are necessary to curb an urgent public safety crisis.” (PBS, August 12, 2025, written by Matt Brown).

Even as district officials questioned the claims underlying his emergency declaration, the Republican president promised a “historic action to rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse.” (Ibid) His rhetoric paraphrased that used by conservatives going back decades who have denounced cities with majority non-white populations or as lawless. Trump’s aggressive federal troops surging into neighborhoods reminded some of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre in which a White mob attacked the African Americans of the Greenwood District leaving over 10,000 bodies in their wake. (DOJ Statistics) Trump predicted that if their heavy-handed tactics take root in D.C., they will be rolled out to other majority-Black and Brown cities, like Chicago, Oakland, Baltimore and across the country.

Trump threats to “take over” and “beautify” D.C. is of course based on his own views. He has not decorated but defaced and deformed the Oval Office with gold accents on the walls, fireplace, and other areas. It resembles a Michaels Craft Store aisle sprinkled with gold glitter. He has destroyed the East Wing, stating he is rebuilding it as a ballroom – again attempting to make historical buildings in the U.S. resemble the gold of Russian Orthodox Churches. Now he wants a 250-foot-tall arch in D.C. that will overshadow the Washington Monument. While American families face difficulties affording food and health care, he has spent millions of dollars for ostentatious, obtrusive, flamboyant, and gaudy decorations – small and large.

He has sent National Guard troops to at least ten cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, Oregon, Charlotte, NC., Memphis, TN and more. He has sent ICE armed and masked troops to these same cities plus Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Denver, and Newark.

Trump’s focus on cities that are administered by Democrats and have a large population of Black or Brown citizens, distorts his attempted reasoning and constitutes a show of control and power rather than traditional law enforcement.

National Guard Fact Sheet (Quoted from the Public Rights Project)

The National Guard is generally under the direction of state governors. There are three statuses for the National Guard: state active duty, Title 10 (federalized), and Title 32 (hybrid status — paid by the federal government for federal purposes but under state command).

· Under state active duty, the National Guard is called to duty by their state governor for state-specific missions, like disaster response.

· Under Title 10, the president has some authority to federalize the National Guard and deploy them domestically to protect federal personnel and property. This authority is limited by statute and cannot be overridden by an executive order. Federalized National Guard troops are considered military and therefore CANNOT engage in domestic law enforcement unless the Insurrection Act is lawfully invoked. (10 U.S.C. 12406).

· Under Title 32, the National Guard can be called up for federal purposes but remain under state control. This is typically for the federal government to pay for training or other in-state needs, such as disaster relief. Governors must consent to any deployments of their state National Guard under Title 32. (32 U.S.C. 504(f))

Mr. Trump used authority under Title 10 to federalize the National Guard to support ICE agents in Los Angeles. The legality of this deployment under Title 10 is contested.

Sounding the alarm concerning Trump’s legal violations, transgressions, criminality, and acts of evil are nearly worthless. America’s decline – morally, legally, economically, educationally, is not just a dip in the cold smelly wastewater flooding our nation, but a plunge – with the number of Americans drowning and/or deliberately drowned (murdered) on the rise. At the end of Trump’s first term, the FBI reported a 30% rise in violent crimes in our nation combined with over 9,900 hate crimes against minorities.

Trump’s second term has seen the breakdown of American norms, undermining democracy through force and falsehoods. It does not matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat – the nation that you love, and call home has been sabotaged.

The Cold War – a period of geopolitical and ideological struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union – now Russia, engaged in arms races, space exploration, and espionage. Vladimir Putin - a KGB-trained spy and an expert in espionage - is now leading Russia. Because he blames the United States for the destruction of the Soviet Union, his primary goals are to dismantle and wreck the United States. His primary strategy originates from his formative years, during which each Soviet satellite state was governed by a leader aligned with Russian interests.

Donald Trump is that man.

THE CRIME OF CRIMES – A GENOCIDE

Based on Life-Long Provable and Invidious Evidence of Mr. Trump's Behavior

Crimes against humanity are equally egregious as acts of genocide and warrant comparable condemnation. “No country has ever been held responsible for genocide,” (Wikipedia) but individuals who participated in the slaughter of millions of Jews were tried and convicted. In 2025, a new genocide commenced due to the atrocious and gruesome behavior of one man – Donald Trump.

Despite the carnage in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Syria, and other nations and even in the face of the Trump administration’s apparent determination to dismantle what remains of the liberal international order, the human rights attorney Philippe Sands insists he is not giving in to despair. It’s too early to write-off the rules-based system or to write off the United States.” (NYT, Feb. 1, 2026, “The Crime of Crimes”, written by Michael Steinberger)

Only Rwanda and Bosnia have recently faced genocide charges, and I served as a consultant to both. I visited Rwanda in 2002 and Bosnia in 2003, witnessing the aftermath of two genocides. I am not a prominent human rights lawyer, but these countries, their people, and history have made a lasting impact on my own background and how I view the U.S. today.

In 1994, the full horror of racism in Rwanda violently killed about

800,000 people in three short months. This chilling tribal war pitted

Tutsis against Hutus. The scale and violence of this genocide were impossible to grasp. At the personal invitation of President Paul Kagame’s government, I traveled to Kigali in 2002 as a consultant. The lessons shared were not just about nonprofit management, income-generation concepts, micro-credit programs, disease control, small craft business development, gender-based violence, or orphan care – most of my past employment nonprofit experiences.

For me, these were personal lessons about the extremes of hatred and humanitarian crisis – and racial strife. As I danced with a large group of laughing young orphans in a sizable community thatched-roof hut on the dirt floor, I was sobbing. I wanted to share their joy while dancing to the rhythm of their ankle bells, their songs, and their other handmade musical instruments. Instead, all I could see were those children’s noticeable scars of war – some were missing a hand, an arm, an ear, a foot, an eye; others bore signs of brutality such as machete scars on their backs, stomachs, or even heads. My visceral reaction to those children’s injuries was an onslaught of throbbing and consuming grief – a learning experience that will never be forgotten.

The following year in 1995, the city of Srebrenica in Bosnia became the site of Europe’s worst massacre since World War II. The Serbian (Christian) army staged a brutal takeover of this small, intimate mountainous town and its surrounding region. Over a period of only five days, the Serbian soldiers separated the Bosnian (Muslim) families and systematically murdered over 7,000 men and boys in fields, schools, and warehouses. Overall, this ethnic cleansing war began in 1992 and lasted until 1995, with an estimated 250,000 killed and over 50,000 women raped – more rapes than any other recorded war. United Nations troops intervened to stop the slaughter. Bosnians do not like use the word “genocide,” but that is exactly what happened.

When this religious and ethnic war ended, the Muslim women of Srebrenica helped investigators find mass graves, identify victims, and fundraise for a memorial. In 2003, USAID and World Learning asked me to visit Bosnia to review Muslim women’s living conditions and suggest income-generation strategies. Many of their homes, now occupied by Christians, were legally theirs but returning posed challenges due to hostility and discrimination. Business ideas like mushroom picking, pasta production, and dairy failed because of safety threats or sabotage from local authorities. Ultimately, my recommendation was to establish a nonprofit craft business, producing hand-knitted goods, which is now successful in global department stores such as Harrods, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus. Today the Muslim women of Srebrenica are still recovering the bones of their loved ones through DNA testing. Their immeasurable sorrow is never-ending.

Now the United States is among those few countries in history to create a massive genocide. Donald Trump, along with his buddy Elon Musk – a mutual friend to Vladimir Putin, officially shut down and dismantled the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in mid-2025, with the initial order dated January 24, 2025. This was only four days after Trump’s inauguration, so we know this was planned prior to his second term.

Mr. Putin, expelled USAID from Russia in 2012 over allegations of interference in domestic politics and backing opposition groups. The Kremlin saw USAID as a regime change tool and later praised Trump and its broader dismantling in 2025. USAID worked in 122 countries, and their contractual reports provided essential data that contributed to CIA intelligence sources. Putin knew this.

During the 1990s, USAID allocated over $1.4 billion (by 1994) to facilitate Russia’s transition toward a market economy and democratic governance. This support included assistance with privatization efforts, humanitarian aid, constitutional drafting, institutional development, and economic restructuring. Despite these initiatives, subsequent developments indicated that the anticipated changes in Russia were not realized. I lived in Moscow and then St. Petersburg during the 1990s. The West had an illusion of Russia as a friend and a democracy – Russia and Mr. Putin DID NOT.

Although Gorbachev engaged in diplomatic gestures such as shaking hands and signing agreements, by the mid-1990s, Russia was quickly and stealthily moving away from becoming a democracy. People often refer to the “end of the Cold War,” but it was merely a global deception. We are not experiencing Cold War II, but just an extension of the geopolitical rivalry between the United States and the previous Soviet Union – now Russia.

Vladimir Putin rose to power in Russia by serving as the Vice Mayor of St. Petersburg, Prime Minister under President Boris Yeltsin, then becoming Acting President after Yeltsin resigned in 1999. He won the presidency in 2000 amid calls for stability. He built his base through:

· St. Petersburg – the most corrupt city in Russia,

· Millions of dollars stolen from USAID and The World Bank,

· Transitioning the KGB to the FSB,

· Projected strength as leader – he created instability by bombing Russian apartment buildings (hundreds of Russians died) and blaming the Chechnya’s, then engaged in attacks on Chechnya – all a smoke-screen to look like he was stabilizing Russia – thousands of Chechnya citizens and soldiers died.

· Consolidated power by controlling oligarchs, media, Russian Organized Crime (ROC) abroad, and the government. He murdered a very long list of independent reporters, while other media fled the country. The ROC’s role in the United States was to enlist Americans as Russian Assets. They also provide: cyber-attacks, threatening phone calls, drug distribution, illegal gambling, arson/fires, and so on.

Donald Trump, a man without morals, was entrapped in a typical KGB lure of flattery, women/sex, and money. Prostitution is KGB-regulated and bounteous – used to lure western men. The Kremlin, churches, and theaters are all gilded in gold – just like the trimmings found in the Oval Office under Trump’s reign. And both Trump’s elder sons have bragged about receiving $100 million dollars from Russian banks – the same financial institutions that are all controlled by President Putin.

To quote Craig Unger a NYT bestselling author on Trump, “A relatively insignificant targeting operation by the New York KGB about 40 years ago to recruit an influential businessman as a new asset triggered a sequence of intelligence protocols that morphed into the greatest intelligence bonanza in history. There are significant and alarming incidences occurring in the United States proving Trump’s subservient relationship to Russia - far more significant and ominous than the American public might ever suspect.”

Trump closed USAID. Trump, Musk, and Rubio have all appeared before Congress and testified: “No one died due to the closure of USAID.” This is perhaps the second largest and most dangerous falsehood spread by the Trump Administration. The first lie is that he has “no connections to Russia.”

As of mid-2025, reports indicate that the suspension and subsequent dismantling of USAID by the Trump administration—which included cutting 83% to 90% of global contracts—has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths in developing nations, with a significant impact on Sub-Saharan Africa. An impact counter estimated that discontinuing USAID funding led to 62,557 adult deaths and 130,535 child deaths by mid-April 2025 - four months after Trump’s second term began. (The Lancet) “A modeling study assessing the potential effect of reductions in USAID’s disease-specific and health condition-specific programs project that, between 2025 and 2040, could result in an additional 15.2 million AIDS-related deaths, 2.2 million tuberculous deaths, and 7.9 million child deaths.” (The Lancet, “Evaluating the impact of two decades of USAID interventions and projecting the effects of defunding on mortality.”) Prior to the close of USAID, diseases were halted and controlled, maternity childbirth deaths were eradicated, and starvation across Africa was wiped out. (Ibid)

“The International Court of Justice (ICJ) defines genocide based on the 1948 Genocide Convention as specific acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group. Key elements include proving specific, targeted intent to destroy the group, not just individuals.” (Wikipedia)

The New York Times, 6/27/2024, written by Jonathan Mahler and Steve Eder, “No Vacancies” for Blacks: How Donald Trump Got His Start and Was First Accused of Bias.”

“She seemed like the model tenant. A 33-year-old nurse who was living at the Y.W.C.A. in Harlem, she had come to rent a one-bedroom at the still-unfinished Wilshire Apartments in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood of Queens. She filled out what the rental agent remembers as a “beautiful application.” She did not even want to look at the unit. There was just one hitch: Maxine Brown was black. Stanley Leibowitz, the rental agent, talked to his boss, Fred C. Trump. “I asked him what to do and he says, ‘Take the application and put it in a drawer and leave it there,’” Mr. Leibowitz, now 88, recalled in an interview. It was late 1963 — just months before President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the landmark Civil Rights Act — and the tall, mustachioed Fred Trump was approaching the apex of his building career. He was about to complete the jewel in the crown of his middle-class housing empire: seven 23-story towers, called Trump Village, spread across nearly 40 acres in Coney Island. He was also grooming his heir. His son Donald, 17, would soon enroll at Fordham University in the Bronx, living at his parents’ home in Queens and spending much of his free time touring construction sites in his father’s Cadillac, driven by a black chauffeur. “His father was his idol,” Mr. Leibowitz recalled. “Anytime he would come into the building, Donald would be by his side.”

Donald Trump went on to build upon this prejudice throughout his career. He has deliberately started a death-spiral in Africa which is estimated to be killing Blacks at the rate of 103 an hour. (Ibid, The Lancet) He is deporting, Brown-skinned immigrants and his methods are discriminatory and lethal – thirty-two deaths in 2025 and eight shot in the first three weeks of 2026. (Brookings Institution) ICE has even arrested two native Americans in Tucson, AZ.

Combined with his closure of all DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs in government, businesses, and schools – Trump’s case shows solid evidence of his push toward “white supremacy.”

Unlike other mass atrocities, genocide specifically needs to show an intent to destroy a race or group based on a specific identity. Mr. Trump’s closure of USAID, while a plan probably originally generated by Mr. Putin, builds upon Trump’s life-long hatred of Blacks.

HOW DONALD TRUMP DESTROYED AMERICA

Visit https://democrazy2020.org and watch the video.

One Christmas many, many years ago in a land far away from the Denver home that I loved, my oldest daughter decided to come to Russia as a “surprise present” for me for the holidays. Since my youngest daughter told me of Lize’s arrival, I did everything in my power to act surprised and internally grateful – which was not difficult. It was a joy to see her, to keep her close, and to spend time together during the holiday period. I didn’t know at the time that Lize had already chosen to divorce her husband of one year and remain in Russia.

Besides her loving presence, she brought me a copy of Robert Fulgrum’s book called All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. He was a genius with words. In his preface, he wrote:

Finally, I should tell you that I have an official Storyteller’s License. A friend made it up and taped it to the wall above my desk. This license gives me permission to use my imagination in rearranging my experience to improve a story, so long as it serves some notion of truth. It also contains the Storyteller’s creed:

· I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.

· That dreams are more powerful than facts.

· That hope always triumphs over experience.

· That laughter is the only cure for grief.

· And I believe that love is stronger than death.

I have tried very hard to not write anything that would cause my license to be revoked. – Robert Fulgrum

This edition of Fulgrum’s book was published in 1988 by Ballalntine Books. The same year that I began to travel to the Soviet Union.

Even after dedicating eight years to learning Russian, and two years or more living with a Russian woman every other month, arriving in the immense city of Moscow left me feeling childlike and inexperienced – so much to learn.

Somewhere along this path, the one thing that I lost was my sense of humor. My father enjoyed making people laugh, and I inherited that trait. Smiling and laughing were part of my daily routine until I arrived in Moscow. Jokes that were amusing in the US made little sense here, and the same was true in reverse—and in Moscow, everything feels incredibly serious. The obvious reason was that life in Moscow was so much more difficult than in the up-scale neighborhood where I lived in Denver.

Under Communism, people struggled, incomes were amazingly low, good food was scarce – especially meat, and I could no longer hop in the car, drive to the local supermarket, and buy whatever I wanted. To substitute for the doleful living conditions, people were dedicated to communism – just as much as Americans were committed to democracy. – perhaps more. It was like a religion and a belief that was holistic and all-embracing. Cities were safe, and any street crime was swiftly punished by prison time. People meticulously dressed and boots were daily polished before going outside again in the dirty Moscow snow. I was one of the few Americans to experience this lifestyle directly, spending two years living with a Russian Communist whose daily life I came to know well and respect.

Russian lifestyles included strong family ties including grandparents, hospitality, a sense of community, deep respect for elders, and frequent social gatherings – often at a countryside dacha. At such events, we always removed our shoes at home, ate homemade jams and pickles, sensed pride in patriotism, shared a blend of ancient customs, and laughed. It took me several years to fully grasp Russian humor – which often made fun of the dire living conditions. Russian humor gains much of its wit from the inflection of the Russian language.” (Wikipedia) While I was taught the “Russian words”, the inflection is not learned unless you live there. For instance, “going left”- with the right intention means “doing something illegal or off-track.”

With the fall of Communism, chaos resulted. People were without income to buy food and the essentials of life. Free healthcare switched to “pay for services.” And crime blanketed every street corner.

One friend was the Soviet Deputy Director of Finance. He lost his prestigious job and salary. About 18 months later, he was involved with a fraudulent newly formed Moscow bank and wanted to use my passport to transfer money from a New York bank to Moscow.

Boris Yeltsin (1931–2007) is recognized as a significant political leader whose legacy reflects both his failed leadership and the endless challenges he faced, including his documented issues with alcoholism. For nearly ten years, the Russian government and the Russian society fell apart. Factories stopped working, unemployment was rampant, traditional Russian and cultural lifestyles changed, and a wave of liberal democratic movements resulted in the collapse of communism.

By 1991, Mr. Putin had returned from his KGB “spy” job in Germany. His first political position was as the Vice Mayor of the city of St. Petersburg – a city then known as the most corrupt in all of Russia. At the request of Yeltsin, Putin played a key role in establishing the new FSB as a successor agency to the KGB, which was internationally recognized for its covert operations. He ciphered millions of western dollars into Russian bank accounts and gained control of the chaotic Russian government. He stabilized Russia but also reverted it to a state reminiscent of Stalin’s era, marked by espionage and fear.

Russian spies, known as “illegals,” operate deep undercover using false identities to infiltrate societies, gather intelligence, and influence policy, often posing as ordinary citizens with jobs, families, and blending into communities for years, as seen in the 2010 FBI bust of deep-cover agents like Anna Chapman, highlighting methods from diplomatic cover to recruiting within target nations and recent use of countries like Mexico for operations against the U.S. There are two types of Russian spies: the “Illegals” operate under deep cover, while the “legals” have official cover making them harder to expel.

Putin blames the US for the collapse of the Soviet Union and communism and has targeted our country for destruction. Russian operatives commonly recruit local individuals for their activities. Mr. Oleg Kalugin, a retired senior director of the KGB “illegals” in the US for decades, has confirmed that during his timeframe, the Russians had over 300 assets in the U.S. – including Donald Trump. (Interview with Criag Unger, the bestselling NYT’s author of books on Russia and Trump)

I possess extensive firsthand knowledge of the recruitment process, gained through many years of direct experience. Mr. Trump was treated like royalty, was loaned money, was provided Russian (KGB) prostitutes, and was lured and trapped. Today, the majority of Trump’s income comes from Russian sources.

Reflecting on the fall of communism, Putin’s rise, and Russian hardships reveals a comparison that would alarm any American. For the past ten years since Trump rose to national attention, he has been hard at work juggling his American image against his Russian burden – the relationship which pays his bills.

Donald Trump has destroyed America – from the closure of USAID and massive deaths in Africa, to the unsubstantiated bombing of boats in the Caribbean which is murder, to the measles outbreak due to Mr. Kennedy’s obsession with cutting vaccines, to the rising unemployment rate in the US, to his ridiculous and farcical tariffs which impose large import duties on American manufactures and retail stores, - in which you and I pay at the stores, to the government closure that cost Americans an estimated $54 billion, to the demolition of the White House East Wing estimated to cost $400 million to rebuild, and to his Big Bill which eliminates health care for millions of Americans and reduces funding to rural hospitals – impacting the lives of farmers who feed America and who lost billions of dollars in federal contracts to grow crops to feed the world’s poor when USAID closed.

The facts are clear. The collapse of communism in Russia and the decline of democracy in the United States share indistinguishable similarities.
