The Trump Administration is once again recklessly endangering our natural wonders by putting polluters first. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum just scrapped a federal policy that kept single-use plastics out of our cherished national parks. That's why I've reintroduced my Reducing Waste in National Parks Act — to protect our parks, defend wildlife, and stop plastic pollution from flooding into these iconic places. These public lands should be places of beauty and wonder, not dumping grounds. Add your name now to support my bill and demand a ban on single-use plastics in our national parks: Sign the Petition Single-use plastics like bottles, straws, and packaging don't belong in places we go to escape pollution and enjoy nature. They endanger wildlife, clog our trails and waterways, and take centuries to break down. When President Obama first issued guidelines that gave the National Park Service power to ban single-use plastic water bottles, the positive impact was immediate: - Up to 2 million disposable bottles diverted
- More than 111,000 pounds of plastic saved
- A reduction of 141 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions
Secretary Burgum's decision will send a tidal wave of trash into our country's most iconic landscapes. And just like during the first Trump administration, this is part of a larger assault on our planet. We cannot let it stand. Let's send a loud message: our parks are not dumping grounds for plastic pollution. Join me in calling on Congress to pass the Reducing Waste in National Parks Act. Onward!
