BRACE YOURSELVES, MASSACHUSETTS, FOR THE ONSLAUGHT OF WEALTHY GOP LIARS WHO NEED TO BE CAREFULLY SCRUTINIZED! Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance and Fiscal Alliance Foundation ???? KNOWN FOR THEIR EXPENSIVE MISLEADING POSTCARDS, CONCEALED FUNDING, OUT-OF-STATE POSTAL PERMIT... MANY OF THEIR POSTCARDS INCLUDED OUTRIGHT LIES! I AM A FIRM BELIEVER IN NEVER VOTING FOR SOMMEONE WHO HAS NOT PREVIOUSLY HELD ELECTED OFFICE! THAT INCLUDES JOSH KRAFT WHO'S LIGHT ON SOLUTION, HEAVY ON BLABBER! THAT INCLUDES THE REST OF THESE CLOWNS!
| 2026 WATCH — Another Republican is considering running for governor. Michael Minogue, former CEO of the medical technology company Abiomed and a major Republican donor, is mulling a campaign for the state’s top office, joining a growing list of potential GOP candidates. Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance and Fiscal Alliance Foundation KNOWN FOR GLOSSY, EXPENSIVE POST CARDS WITH LOTS OF MISINFORMATION...CAN WE CALL THEM LIES? OUT-OF-STATE POSTAL PERMIT... SCRUTINIZE IT ALL! Minogue, an Army veteran and founder of the nonprofit MedTechVets, is set to meet with members of the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance and Fiscal Alliance Foundation boards Friday to talk about a potential bid, MassFiscal Executive Director Paul Craney confirmed to Playbook. Minogue couldn’t be reached for comment. The meeting isn’t an endorsement, Craney emphasized. Other candidates thinking about joining the race — including former MBTA administrator Brian Shortsleeve, former Housing and Economic Development Secretary Mike Kennealy and Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis — have also met with board members earlier this year. JOHN DEATON, CARPETBAGGER, CRYPTO SCAMMER & DOCUMENTED LIAR, MADE NUMEROUS FALSE CLAIMS - THAT'S WHO THIS WEALTHY CLOWN SUPPORTED? TOO LAZY TO SCRUTINIZE CANDIDATES? Minogue has donated to Republican candidates in and out of the state, including former Gov. Charlie Baker, recent GOP Senate nominee John Deaton and former congressional candidate Rick Green, according to federal campaign filings. In February alone, he contributed more than $400,000 to the Republican National Committee And he and his wife hosted a high-dollar fundraiser for the GOP presidential ticket in Gloucester headlined by JD Vance about a month before last fall’s election. MORE MONEY THAN BRAINS! WHAT HAS HE EVER DONE TO BENEFIT A COMMUNITY? SCRUTINIZE HIS RECORD! JUST ANOTHER WEALTHY CLOWN! Locally, he’s supported Leah Allen and Rayla Campbell, the GOP nominees for lieutenant governor and attorney general respectively in 2022. He also maxed out to Josh Kraft’s campaign last month, as Kraft, a registered Democrat, looks to oust Mayor Michelle Wu in Boston’s mayoral race. A PAC he’s supported also shelled out money to Bay State Democrats in past years: $10,000 to Rep. Seth Moulton’s Serve America PAC and $1,000 to Rep. Jake Auchincloss’ Beyond Thoughts and Prayers PAC last year , as well as donations to Democratic House Whip Katherine Clark and Rep. Richard Neal in 2022 . SCRUTNIZE THESE CANDIDATES! PETER DURANT'S FIRST ACT WAS TO ENDORSE DESANTIS AFTER HE APPOINTED DR. JOSEPH LADAPO TO PROTECT FLORIDA'S HEALTH WHO ENDORSED & APPEARED WITH DR. STELLA IMMANUEL, THE ALIEN SPERM DONOR WHO BELIEVED DISEASES WERE CAUSED BY DEMONS IN YOUR SLEEP - ALSO PROMOTED BY TRUMP. HOW WARPED CAN YOU BE? Minogue joins a crowded unofficial field of Republicans hoping to take on Gov. Maura Healey next year. He’s a relative newcomer to politics compared to Kennealy or Shortsleeve, who both worked in Baker’s administration, or to Evangelidis or state Sen. Peter Durant, who both have floated their interest in the race. But his connections to President Donald Trump could give him an edge among the more conservative voters likely to vote in the GOP primary in a state where the president cruised to victory in the presidential primary last spring. Still, Whoever ultimately secures the Republican nomination will have to contend with the realities of running a GOP campaign in the blue bastion with Donald Trump in the White House — no small feat against Democrats who already handily won every statewide office in 2022. GOOD MONDAY MORNING, MASSACHUSETTS . Have a tip, story, suggestion, birthday, anniversary, new job, or any other nugget for the Playbook? Drop me a line: kgarrity@politico.com . TODAY — Gov. Maura Healey and Rep. Jake Auchincloss speak at a Charles River Regional Chamber forum in Newton at 9 a.m. Lt. Gov. Kim Drsicoll speaks at a Trans Day of Visibility event at 2 p.m. at the State House. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu makes an endorsement announcement at 9:15 a.m. in East Boston.

— “Democratic state legislatures nationwide have started to take on Trump. What about Massachusetts?” by Anjali Huynh, The Boston Globe: “With the White House and Congress in Republicans’ hands, President Trump’s opponents have relied on state Democrats to defend against his administration’s policy changes. From California to Connecticut, state legislatures with Democratic majorities have passed resolutions opposing the onslaught of executive orders and allocated funds to fill expected gaps. But here in Massachusetts, where Democrats hold supermajorities in both chambers, state lawmakers have taken a more leisurely approach to coordinating a public response. That has prompted criticism from some voters and advocates on the left, including 15 progressive organizations that sent a letter last week urging leaders to take up lawmaking more quickly and push back on Trump’s agenda.”

Police responded to a report of a fight inside the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury around 12:55 p.m., Boston police spokesperson Mark Marron said. In a police report obtained by Boston.com, officers requested back-up for a ‘large disturbance’ at the City of Boston Youth Job and Resource Fair, which began at 11 a.m. There were no arrests, injuries, or property damage reported, according to the report. Officers took note of more than 1,500 youth at the event.”

FIRST IN PLAYBOOK — Boston Mayor Michelle Wu will roll out new endorsements from a slate of East Boston pols — including state Sen. Lydia Edwards, state Rep. Adrian Madaro and City Councilor Gigi Coletta Zapata — at a campaign event in East Boston this morning. It’s a not-so-subtle flex of her support in the neighborhood where Tom O’Brien, Boston’s former planning chief and a prominent developer in the city, is expected to host his campaign launch this week.

| ****THIS IS A NATIONAL CRISIS THAT'S BEING IGNORED & IT'S TIME TO PUT FACTS FIRST & FIND SOLUTIONS - WHAT HAVE REPUBLICANS DONE OTHER THAN TO DENY SHELTER & CRIMINALIZED HOMELESSNESS? DON'T VILIFY THE HOMELESS! EVERY FAMILY DESERVES TO BE HOUSED!***** BELOW IS A LINK TO LOTS OF INFORMATION:
— “Number of families, migrants in Massachusetts shelters down 30%, data shows,” by Chris Van Buskirk, Boston Herald: “The number of families in taxpayer-funded emergency shelters has dropped dramatically after peaking at more than 7,600 households in July 2024, a level that pushed the system to the bursting point and drained hundreds of millions in one-time cash the state had set aside. Providers said the reduced number of families in shelters is a result of restrictive policies put in place over the past year by Gov. Maura Healey and legislative Democrats. But Republicans also point to the Trump administration’s moves to clamp down the southern border.” ***IGNORING THAT TRUMP INSTRUCTED MAGA GOP TO DEFEAT THE BIPARTISAN BORDER BILL TO CREATE AN ELECTION ISSUE!**** The state is also on track to close the hotels that have been used as temporary shelters by the end of the year, Healey said during an interview on WCVB’s “On the Record ” that aired Sunday. excerpts: After years of changes, the Healey administration now contends that 75% of eligible households seeking shelter are “Massachusetts families” and 53% of households in the system are “Massachusetts families.” Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless Associate Director Kelly Turley said the decision to create two shelter tracks, which took effect in December 2024, was one of the most impactful policy shifts. “In December, when they launched that two-track system, it was that the state was deciding for families which track they were on, and except in very limited situations, families couldn’t switch tracks, so the majority of families aren’t deemed to have a priority,” Turley told the Herald. Turley also said declining numbers of families in shelters does “not necessarily correlate with a decrease in family homelessness or decreased need for shelter.” A spokesperson for the housing department said the number of exits from shelters has increased “as a result of a series of steps” that the administration has taken, including setting up clinics to help people obtain work authorization and standing up a “dedicated” team to help people find jobs. Ferrier, the CEO of shelter provider Heading Home, said the changes over the past several years have created “a different accountability structure” for providers, state government, and families who are trying to move through the system. That, she said, is how “you see a system become a better system.”
****TOM HOMAN IS AN ARROGANT LIAR WHO ACKNOWLEDGED DENYING A COURT ORDER - DEPORTED INNOCENT PEOPLE TO HEL HOLE IN EL SALVADOR - INCLUDING THOSE LEGALLY IN THE US - WITH NO DUE PROCESS - ALSO INCLUDED WOMEN. — “200 protest ICE raids in New Bedford,” by Kevin G. Andrade, The New Bedford Light: “Schools Superintendent Andrew O’Leary called on federal officials to restore a rescinded memorandum preventing civil immigration enforcement operations at sensitive locations during a demonstration outside City Hall on Saturday. About 200 people attended the demonstration as a reaction to a March 21 raid on a home on Viall Street where federal agents used a battering ram to enter the home while dressed in military fatigues without showing a warrant, according to the residents.” excerpts: Three teenagers were present in their Viall Street home at the time of the raid, including two 16-year-old New Bedford High School students. One of the minors and an18-year-old woman said the agents pointed rifles at them during the 15-minute operation. The four teenage residents of the home, all Guatemalan, are all going through legal immigration processes and were released after demonstrating legal presence in the country. José Antonio Garcia Garcia, 39, was taken into custody. Another adult resident, Miguel Ordoñez Socop, 35, was detained by agents on his way to work at a fish house shortly before agents went to the home. Garcia is in immigration detention at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Socop is being held at the Strafford County Department of Corrections in Dover, N.H. The Light has confirmed the detention of eight New Bedford residents over the course of a weeklong operation targeting Massachusetts in which ICE said it detained 370 “criminal aliens” throughout the Commonwealth. It was part of border czar Thomas Homan’s promise to “bring Hell” to Boston. “This is not about keeping New Bedford safe,” Cisneros said. “This is about power and ethnic cleansing.” “The immigrant experience in New Bedford has always been strong and is alive and well, whether people like it or not,” Hendricks told the crowd. “The reports of ICE operating in our city without warrants is unacceptable. If you want to search us, you need a warrant. Anything short of that is unacceptable.” A recent New York Times report said that Trump administration officials believed that the invocation of the Alien Enemies Act — which Trump invoked two weeks ago citing threats from the Venezuelan gang Trén de Aragua — enables warrantless entry into homes. Federal courts have since paused the declaration as it is challenged in court. D-ICE-Y ISSUE — Gov. Maura Healey says Massachusetts isn’t a sanctuary state. But she declined to say in an interview that aired Sunday whether she’d support changes some lawmakers are pushing to the precedent laid out in the 2017 Commonwealth v. Lunn decision, which determined that Massachusetts law enforcement officials don’t have the power to hold people solely on immigration detainers. “We have a law in place that’s similar to many laws in place around this country,” Healey said during her appearance on “On the Record.” “I support anything to get criminals off the street,” she added later, but changes to the Lunn decision will “be for the Legislature to decide,” she said. ****SILENCING FREE SPEECH & PEACEFUL PROTESTS...IT'S CALLED FASCISM!**** TARGETING STUDENTS WITHOUT SERIOUS CONSIDERATION OF THE LONG TERM CONSEQUENCES DEFINES THIS DEPRAVED ADMINISTRATION. What settlement was reached?,” by Daniel Schemer, The Taunton Daily Gazette: “One month after filing a lawsuit against the state over forced compliance with a controversial multi-family housing law, the town of Middleboro has announced it has reached an agreement and withdrawn its lawsuit. … Under the terms of the agreement Middleboro will ask its residents for Town Meeting approval to expand its current Smart Growth District to create a new sub-district in the East Clark area of town. This will allow for additional land area for market-rate and affordable multi-unit housing near the MBTA Commuter Rail station.”

****HUH? HOW TO KEEP A STRAIGHT FACE WHEN LISTENING TO TRUMP'S DELUSIONS? **** — “Trump won’t rule out a third term,” by Gregory Svirnovskiy, POLITICO: “President Donald Trump on Sunday morning refused to rule out the idea of seeking a constitutionally prohibited third term in office, telling NBC News’ Kristen Welker in a phone call that ‘there are methods’ for doing so. ‘You have to start by saying, I have the highest poll numbers of any Republican for the last 100 years,’ Trump said. ‘We’re in the high 70s in many polls, in the real polls, and you see that. And, and you know, we’re very popular. And you know, a lot of people would like me to do that. But, I mean, I basically tell them, we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.’”

— “Trump could reshape the economy. These Massachusetts business owners are betting on it,” by Shirley Leung, The Boston Globe: “[President Donald] Trump’s sledgehammer approach to the economy may be unnerving to stock investors and economists, and in Massachusetts, his push to slash federal funding to universities and hospitals could jeopardize jobs, research, and health care access. But even amid the uncertainty, not everyone is bracing for bad times. Some local CEOs and business owners believe the president’s efforts to restructure the economy and rein in government spending will pay off in the long run.” — “UMass Chancellor Reyes outlines changes amid financial uncertainty under Trump administration,” by Scott Merzbach, Daily Hampshire Gazette: “More stringent oversight of spending on salaries, capital projects and various non-personnel expenditures at the University of Massachusetts, and both reducing graduate admissions in some departments and notifying some prospective graduate students that they will not be able to study in Amherst, are underway, according to a letter sent to the campus from UMass Chancellor Javier Reyes.” ****THANK YOU!***** — “In back-to-back rulings, federal judges rule against Trump orders targeting law firms,” Carrie Johnson, WBUR: “Federal judges in two separate cases have temporarily blocked a White House effort to punish the law firms Jenner & Block and WilmerHale, with one judge calling the effort "disturbing" and the second calling it a ‘constitutional harm.’ In the case of Jenner & Block, Judge John Bates with the federal district court in Washington, D.C., issued a temporary restraining order against the Trump administration, citing violations of the free speech guarantees of the First Amendment and an unconstitutional interference with the rights of its clients to select lawyers of their choosing.”

But as the current measles outbreaks in Texas and surrounding states grow and the Trump administration continues to chip away at vaccine confidence, experts say it’s only a matter of time.”

— “Area public works officials slam new state regulations on truck emissions,” by Henry Schwan, Telegram & Gazette: “While the Trump administration takes steps to dismantle environmental policies at the EPA and is calling for more fossil fuel drilling, Massachusetts is moving in a different direction. A state law passed by the Legislature and signed by former Gov. Charlie Baker in 2022 mandates that Massachusetts achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Net zero means removing the same amount of carbon from the atmosphere that's pumped into the air from transportation, manufacturing and other sources. … However, the regulations are getting pushback, especially from cities and towns that rely on diesel trucks to perform a variety of duties, including sanding and plowing roads in the winter.” — “'Rolling the dice on a big number': B-R passes budget that will require override votes,” by Emma Rindlisbacher, The Taunton Daily Gazette: “On March 26, the Bridgewater-Raynham School Committee voted to increase the district's budget for next year by 15.5%. This increase would require both Bridgewater and Raynham to approve a Proposition 2 1/2 budget override and substantially increase property taxes.” — “Tribe worries business park in Plymouth could disrupt cultural burial sites and objects,” by Rachael Devaney, Cape Cod Times: “A group that includes environmental activists and members of the Wampanoag Nation are fighting to stop a planned business park which they say would harm the environment and threaten tribal cultural artifacts and possible burial grounds. As prep work for the project, a construction company clear cut 33 acres of what was once part of the Great Lot - land that had been set aside for the Wampanoags in the 1600s, said Melissa Ferretti, chairwoman of the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe.” — “Plainville facing tight finances with rise in employee health insurance, payment for new regional high school,” by Stephen Peterson, The Sun Chronicle. — “Braintree mayor talks of changes she wants to see in town – like maybe a Boys & Girls Club,” by Hannah Morse, The Patriot Ledger.
