Idaho has been a bad place to be a wolf for a long time, but the past year has been especially horrific.
Jessie, we’ve learned that 570 wolves were shot, poisoned or trapped in Idaho during a one-year period. At least 35 of them were pups, some only weeks old.
And what’s happening in Idaho could happen elsewhere if wolves become nationally delisted from the Endangered Species Act.
Your emergency donation will help fight to save wolves and other imperiled animals. The need has never been so urgent - please donate today!
This latest death count is shocking: Nearly 60% of Idaho’s entire wolf population was shot and trapped during this period.
Many of these animals died in the most horrific ways. Some of the wolves shattered their teeth trying to bite their way out of traps. Others froze to death, trapped and unable to escape. Some were even gunned down in ‘aerial control actions.’
This tragedy in Idaho is an example of what could happen elsewhere if this administration follows through on its plan to delist all gray wolves in the lower 48, leaving the fate of wolves to the individual states.
I’m asking for your support to help fight to keep the federal protection wolves need so that more anti-wolf states like Idaho cannot treat wolves as vermin.
Wolves and other vulnerable animals are counting on us to help them survive. Please make your urgent lifesaving gift today!
Our hearts break seeing the reckless destruction of these beautiful animals. It’s time to turn our grief and anger into action to protect wolves and stop more stories like this in the future. If we don’t stand up for them now, who will?
