Donald Trump spent Presidents’ Day morning doing exactly what you’d expect from a corrupt, self-obsessed, and cognitively crumbling fraud: posting his own mugshot, congratulating himself on being “Mr. President,” and completely ignoring actual disasters affecting American lives.

This guy posted an image of his official White House portrait side by side with his Georgia RICO mugshot. And then, in true cult-leader fashion, he declared to his followers: “They’re not after me. They’re after you. I’m just standing in the way. Happy Presidents’ Day.”

Well, Donald, you certainly aren’t standing in the way of Americans struggling with real problems—because you couldn’t care less about them.

While Americans in Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia were reeling from a major storm disaster—with fatalities, destroyed homes, and lives upended—Trump spent the day at a car race in Florida, having his motorcade do laps on the track. The next day? Golfing at his resort, naturally. Not a word about the storm. Not a single shred of leadership.

Instead, Trump was busy sending out scammy fundraising emails, offering people a “gift” of his signed inaugural photo—because nothing says Happy Presidents’ Day like a grift. Act now! It’s only available to my “most loyal” supporters (meaning: anyone who will give me money)!

Trump is only a few weeks into his presidency, and guess what? People are already exhausted by his incompetence. His poll numbers are tanking, with young voters turning against him fast. Just two weeks ago, 50% of adults under 30 had a favorable opinion of Trump. Now? That number has collapsed to 39%.

And honestly, who can blame them? While past presidents saw soaring approval ratings early on, Trump has already managed to make himself deeply unpopular. His grand economic plan? Higher prices, unaffordable housing, skyrocketing gas prices, and chaos on the world stage.

He promised to bring peace to Ukraine in 24 hours. That was a lie. He promised to lower prices on “day one.” That was a lie. Instead, we’re watching Trump fall right into Vladimir Putin’s hands, cutting out Europe and Ukraine from negotiations and letting Russia dictate the terms.

And while Trump lets Putin run the show, his administration is off firing FAA employees after multiple aviation disasters, gutting veterans’ services, and letting the country descend into instability. But don’t worry, his top priority is... selling Dark MAGA hats.

Yes, Trump is now hyping a bizarre “Dark MAGA” rebrand, emailing his followers that Elon Musk is “one of them” and urging them to buy the exclusive Dark MAGA hat (available now, while supplies last!). His handpicked FBI Director-to-be, Kash Patel, is over on Trump’s failing social media platform selling “Based T-shirts.”

And what’s Trump’s other big move? Gushing over Argentina’s far-right leader Javier Milei, whose country currently boasts a 54% poverty rate. Trump looks at that and thinks, Yes, let’s bring that here.

The bottom line? Trump is an unserious man trying to run a serious country. He’s not a leader—he’s a narcissistic sideshow. He wastes his time with fake tough-guy bravado while Americans suffer from real issues. He ignores disasters, fuels economic instability, and sells propaganda while handing America over to Putin and his billionaire cronies.

But here’s the good news: We are not powerless. Trump is losing public support, his approval is collapsing, and Americans are already fed up with the incompetence. The grassroots opposition to his corrupt rule is stronger than ever—and we will not stop until we take our democracy back.

I will be doing town meetings in Omaha, Nebraska on Friday night and Iowa City, Iowa on Saturday morning. Further, we’re in the process of planning more events, coast to coast. Stay tuned.

Why, at this moment, are we doing town meetings around the country- especially in conservative areas? The answer is obvious.

Trumpism will not be defeated by politicians inside the DC beltway. It will only be defeated by millions of Americans, in every state in this country, coming together in a strong, grassroots movement which says NO to oligarchy, NO to authoritarianism, NO to kleptocracy, NO to massive cuts in programs that working people desperately need, NO to huge tax brakes for the richest people in our country. And that’s what these events are about.

Further, there are a number of congressional districts where Republicans won by only a small number of votes. With the Republican Party in the House having only a three vote majority we can defeat draconian, anti-working class legislation if just two Republican members of Congress vote NO. And they will vote NO if we rally their constituents to demand that they vote NO.

Can Trumpism be defeated? Absolutely! But, if we’re going to make that happen, we need to know exactly what we’re fighting and how we best go forward. Here’s just a little bit of what we need to know:

Trumpism has an unlimited amount of money to throw into their efforts. Elon Musk, the. wealthiest man on earth, put more than $270 million into Trump’s campaign.

Trumpism has significant control over large parts of the media where millions of Americans get their information. FOX and Musk’s Twitter platform, among others, are not normal media outlets. Their basic function is to spread right wing extremist ideology.

Trumpism is utilizing the concept of the Big Lie in way that has never, in this country, been done before. Day after day, blatantly dishonest statements and conspiracy theories are propagated — and repeated over and over and over again.

Trumpism does not believe in democracy or the rule of law. Trump recently posted: “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.” In other words, Trump believes that he can do anything he wants for any reason. He can ignore Congress or the courts. He is above the law.

But, while Trump consolidates power into his own hands, there is another reality going on. We are the wealthiest country on earth and AI, robotics and other new technologies being developed will only make our country wealthier. It is absurd, unjust and inhumane that virtually all of that new wealth being created goes to the people who need it the least.

We must continue and expand the fight for basic human rights:

Healthcare is a human right and must be available to all regardless of income.

Every worker in America is entitled to earn a decent income. We must raise the minimum wage to a living wage and make it easier for workers to join unions.

We must have the best public educational system in the world, from child care to vocational training, to graduate school, available to all.

We must address the housing crisis and build the millions of units of low income and affordable housing that we desperately need.

We must create millions of good paying jobs as we lead the world in combating the existential threat of climate change.

Not only must we continue to fight for a nation based on the principles of economic, social, racial and environmental justice, we must also lead the effort against Trump‘s reactionary legislative agenda.

In the coming weeks the Republicans in Congress will be bringing forward a major piece of legislation, a “reconciliation” bill, that encapsulates their value system and their obedience to oligarchy. It is the economic essence of Trumpism.

At a time of unprecedented income and wealth inequality, this legislation will provide trillions of dollars in tax breaks to the richest people in our country. It will make the rich even richer. At a time when the working class of this country is struggling to put food on the table and pay for housing, this legislation will make savage cuts to Medicaid, housing, nutrition, education and other basic needs. It will make the poor even poorer.

We cannot allow this to happen. This legislation is enormously unpopular. It is exactly what the American people do NOT want. It must not be passed by Congress.

It must be defeated and we CAN defeat it.

This is a perilous moment in American history. Let us go forward together.

These three young orca calves tragically perished over the last year. The last time researchers saw L128, the poor baby was severely emaciated. An adult orca, Moonlight, was jiggling the calf’s body in attempts to revive them. And J61 and her mother, Tahlequah, have captured the world’s attention – Tahlequah carried her daughter’s body for 11 days in a heartbreaking display of grief. While orcas are left mourning these horrific losses, Donald Trump is already enabling Big Oil to “drill, baby, drill.” Big Oil has big plans to develop even more deadly projects that would bring more oil to orca habitats – threatening to wipe them out forever. With that, we have alarming news this evening. According to the Washington Post, Elon Musk and DOGE are attempting to gain access to a highly-secure IRS system that contains sensitive financial data on every taxpayer, business, and nonprofit in the U.S. This has raised significant concerns within the IRS. The White House is reportedly pressuring the IRS to consider an agreement that would give DOGE officials broad access to IRS systems, including the Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS). The IDRS allows IRS employees to access detailed taxpayer information, including personal identification numbers and bank data, and even adjust transaction records.

The access DOGE is requesting to this system is limited due to its sensitivity. If any taxpayer's information is disclosed or improperly accessed, they are legally entitled to compensation. This situation is alarming because it raises serious privacy concerns. The IDRS contains extremely sensitive data, and granting access to a private entity like DOGE could compromise taxpayer confidentiality and lead to potential misuse of information.

But that’s not all, here’s a bullet point list of all the news you missed:

• British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that he is open to sending troops to Ukraine to enforce a peace deal.

• Donald Trump says that Ukraine’s President Zelensky is wrong when he says Russia will target NATO next.

• The State Department has removed “we do not support Taiwan independence” off of its website.
