A Whistleblower Just Blew It Wide Open

A federal official told Congress what Trump built. Then the courts got involved.

Thanks so much for joining me today. I have some great news to share with you. We have people speaking out when they didn’t need to, standing up when everything is against them, and staying loud until those in power are forced to listen.

Even if these stories get covered by corporate media, they rarely give you the whole picture, and never do so honestly. So hit the ❤️ like button and restack this edition—restacking is what forces the platform to carry it to people who’d otherwise never know any of it happened.

Everything we do is independent of corporate influence thanks to our paid subscribers from this community. That allows us the independence and time to run our investigations and in-depth reports into the regime and their allies. All on top of our organizing, which has delivered 830,000 messages to Congress from constituents in less than two years, while we run the largest social media operation against this regime anywhere.

But we need your help to win the midterms. So if you haven’t yet, join us as a paid subscriber today. You’ll be supporting everything we do, and get access to my campaign analysis based off 23 years in the business. Today my focus is on several races in the great state of Minnesota. I hope you’ll join us.

The Whistleblower On Trump’s

 Ballot Scheme

The Postal Service was building the system to carry out Trump’s mail ballot rule, and it was supposed to switch on September 1. Two days before that, an anonymous Postal Service official told Congress what building it had looked like from the inside.

They said there were no written instructions for the workers, so everything they were doing was based on what they heard in meetings. Testing that should have taken weeks only got days. They added that a job this size would take a year to build—they only got three months.

When a worker spoke out to a supervisor about the issues, they responded saying, “We cannot fail.”

If you vote by mail, after you submit it to the election office they will usually deliver it to the Postal Service in big batches. If one barcode in a batch of ten thousand doesn’t scan correctly, the whistleblower said, the Postal Service rejects the entire batch and sends it back.

Federal Judge Indira Talwani froze Trump’s ballot rule on August 27, and refused to unfreeze it on Monday. As of now, no state can be forced onto this new system. Talwani hears the next round for the case on Thursday morning.

And if you vote by mail, your ballot still goes out.

Steve Simon Won. Trump’s Own Judge

 Agreed.

Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon takes his job seriously.

No matter what, he won’t be bullied into crossing the line into any legally murky territory. He follows the law by the book. The Trump regime and an outside group both took Simon to court to get the state’s voter data—Simon stood strong.

On August 17, the DOJ’s lawsuit to get the Minnesota voter file was thrown out by a federal judge. They didn’t want just names and addresses, but parts of their Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses.

Simon wasn’t willing to hand it over, and the regime still doesn’t have that data. “My responsibility to Minnesota voters starts and ends with the law,” Simon said, adding that “the private data entrusted to my office does not belong to the federal government.” He’s right.

Eleven days later, three judges who were appointed by Republicans—one of them by Trump—ended a second fight over the same list. The Public Interest Legal Foundation had also been after Simon over the list for two years and four months.

On Friday, they lost. Judge James Loken wrote that their argument collided with precedent they “either missed or conveniently ignored.”

Steve Simon never gave up a name. Not one.

Warnock Moves To Freeze Georgia

 Data Centers

Raymond Carver lives near where OpenAI wants to build a data center on 1,440 acres of land in Effingham County, Georgia. County officials pitched to residents that it would lead to a property tax cut. Carver stood up at a local meeting and said he didn’t want it. “Helping me with my taxes is nothing I asked for,” Carver said. “I ask for quiet enjoyment of my home.”

A nondisclosure agreement was signed by local leaders on October 27, 2025—residents found out on July 22 of this year.

The contract they signed would exempt half the property’s value from taxes for the next 15 years, and would let OpenAI buy each finished building on the site from the county authority for $10. I am not missing zeroes there. Ten dollars.

In response, people started showing up—not just in Effingham County, but across Georgia. By late July, 24 Georgia cities and counties voted to stop even accepting data center applications. Cherokee County added a six-month moratorium. Lowndes County followed, along with Savannah which unanimously voted to pause large data center development on August 27.

On Friday, Sen. Raphael Warnock kept the momentum going by calling for a moratorium on data center development across Georgia. He added that it should only be lifted if there are guarantees that no one’s power bill will go up, nothing gets polluted, and no secret agreements can hide the deal.

A $20 billion deal, with residents notified 24 hours after it was signed—Warnock says never again.

Five Neighbors Beat Their City Council

In July, five residents of Trenton, Ohio, turned in a petition to let their city vote on banning data centers. They handed over 464 signatures. The Butler County Board of Elections validated 336 and wrote on its own results page that 128 electors’ signatures were required.

Then the city council decided that “electors” meant everyone registered to vote, not just everyone who voted in the last municipal election. Under that reading, 820 signatures were needed.

It seemed as if the council needed a lesson, so on July 29 the residents had a letter hand-delivered to city hall laying out exactly what Ohio law states. Only five days later the council passed an emergency ordinance throwing the petition in the trash.

Residents kept fighting and sued the city. Barry and Lorie Blankenship, Steven Wallace, Lesa DeRosier, and Amy Humbert—five neighbors taking on the city, the company building a data center, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, and the Ohio Municipal League. The opposition argued that the court should throw out a rule that’s been settled for 30 years: in order to get on the ballot, petitions require signatures equal to 10% of votes cast in the previous municipal election.

Yesterday, the Ohio Supreme Court unanimously refused to strike down the rule. The justices wrote that the council had a “mandatory constitutional duty” to certify the petition and instead “disregarded applicable law.” They also ordered Trenton to hold a special election and put the measure before voters.

Five people beat their city council, a data center company, and two statewide business groups.

Thanks to your help, we’ve been able to take the time needed to look at the details no one else does, and give you the truth corporate media ignores.

If you want to do more, gift a subscription to someone who needs to see this, or become a Founding Member and add more fuel to the tank—we have a goal of three today.

The read I’d give a candidate at a kitchen table with less than 9 weeks to go.

Trump’s Candidates Rejected In Minnesota

Trump endorsed Mike Lindell for governor. House Speaker Lisa Demuth won the GOP primary instead. Lindell’s pick for secretary of state, Wendy Phillips, lost by more than 20. Then Lindell sued for a recount and the state Supreme Court refused to hear it.

The governor’s seat is open for the first time since 2018. Gov. Tim Walz isn’t running this year. Sen. Amy Klobuchar took the DFL nomination with a whopping 89.7% of the vote. Klobuchar was first elected in 2006, and has never been beaten in the state. Polls had her up 8 in June, and this month she’s holding onto moderates 57-25. Minnesota gets its first woman governor either way.

The Senate race is close. Democratic nominee Peggy Flanagan beat Rep. Angie Craig 58.9 to 39.5. Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren backed Flanagan, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Pete Buttigieg backed Craig. Recent polling puts Flanagan up against GOP nominee Michele Tafoya 46-41, with 11% undecided. Flanagan would be the first Native woman in the Senate. Tafoya has never held office.

Republicans really want Steve Simon’s job. He runs Minnesota’s elections, and won his 2022 race by 9 points. Now Simon faces GOP nominee Tad Jude, a 74-year-old former legislator and district judge. Simon spent August defending Minnesota’s voter file from two separate demands and gave up nothing.

A toss-up for AG. Attorney General Keith Ellison led GOP nominee Ron Schutz by 8 in early August—by mid-month, the same pollster called it even.

The Bottom Line: Republicans haven’t won a Senate seat in Minnesota since 2002, or any statewide office since 2006. Voters just rejected Trump’s picks. But Flanagan is up 5 with 11% still undecided, and Ellison is tied. Minnesota will only be lost if Democrats decide it’s already over. Sprint through the finish. Work like you’re behind. Minnesota is winnable—it’s not won.

We are now less than 9 weeks away from Election Day. Mail ballots start getting sent out in some states this week. The midterm election is here—and we are full speed ahead with our campaign to flip Congress.

Before you go, real quick—be sure to restack this post to help us spread the truth.

Onward!

Scott

If you vote by mail, how do you get your ballot in—mailbox, drop box, or straight to the election office?

Raymond Carver turned down a tax cut to keep his neighborhood quiet. Would you?

Thanks for your support! Another way to help us out is by gifting subscriptions to friends and family! You can get yours by clicking the link.

Two focuses for today!

**Yosemite.** A Nevada developer wants a strip of the park for a private road. 1,172 letters in the first three days. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-congress-stop-trumps-yosemite-giveaway

**Mail voting.** Hearing is Thursday, and ballots are already going out in some states. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-congress-protect-our-use-of-voting-by-mail-and-voting-machines/

JUST A FEW OF MANY INFORMMED COMMENTS:

We spent the evening in other people’s paperwork so you didn’t have to. A whistleblower. A secretary of state who wouldn’t hand over the file. A man in Georgia who said he didn’t ask for a tax cut. Five neighbors in Ohio. None of that happens if readers don’t fund the time it takes to open the docket. Grateful you’re here. Now restack it so the next person finds out they’re not wrong.

Let's keep the momentum going!

It's All Relative

So well put Sam!!!! Everything Scott and you are doing is worth a subscription and maybe even a gift subscription, too! :-) Honestly I am not hearing about many of these stories anywhere else. And they are each very important! Thank you!! :-)

Fund or find? We really have to do both~ just wish I could fund more efforts!

The part I can’t shake is Trenton. Not a PAC. Not a famous last name. Five neighbors and a letter to city hall. If your council ever moves the goalposts after you did the work, send them this.

Steve Simon told Washington the voter file isn’t theirs. That’s the whole job. More of that, please.

Exactly! The Trenton story shows that local voices really do matter. And Steve Simon is setting the exact standard we need right now. We definitely won't let these stories get buried.

When will Homan return the $50k that he took in a sting operation. Why isn't anyone talking about this.

That is a fantastic question, Ernesto. It’s absolutely wild what gets brushed under the rug, which is exactly why we have to keep bringing these issues up and demanding accountability! But it's on our list

That's why you are on my list, Scott! My list of Substack Newsletters that I will subscribe to even as the budget is getting damn tight! You bring not only good news, you bring the important details of how WE are getting stuff done, in spite of a rotten administration and mainstream media being taken over by crooked conglomerates. No fluff, just the real good stuff that is getting done! Thank you! :-)

Because they've flooded the zone with shit, just like Steve Bannon told them to. There's so much corruption and incompetence going on that it's hard to focus on one thing.

You hit the nail on the head, Betsy. The sheer volume of chaos is a deliberate strategy, but we refuse to let the important stories get lost in the noise!

Thank you Scott for all you do

I would like an answer to that, also. Maybe requiring a subpoena for Pam Bondi might get an answer!

Because they are all corrupt…..I’m sure there are other bribes that we haven’t found out about yet

Trump doing what he does All-The-Time - LIE - CHEAT - STEAL - RIG - RIP OFF Americans at every turn (and stuff his pockets with OUR MONEY)! He will stop at nothing to get power, keep power, stay in power. And he is helped by his Enablers at all levels of the government from Republican state legislators to Republican members of Congress to the Roberts 6. And even more so from the Billionaires who are literally rolling in the dough thanks to him and them working together to Screw the people of America. Thank God for people like OUR Secretary of State Steve Simon who actually works on BEHALF of the people and not some political hack buddies of Donald Trump (like the Republicans running for office in MN and across the country). Vote them ALL out of office and THEN get to work taking back America from those who refuse to put the people first. (And hold everyone of them accountable for their attacks on America.)

So well said, Murray! Having dedicated public servants like Steve Simon makes all the difference. We have to keep shining a light on the corruption and vote them all out. Thank you for your continued support!

Love your state Murray! Love everything about it...well except for that stinking pillow man. Go Amy Klobuchar!!! :-)

I am so glad this is out in the open. There are many states that only doing mail in. WA is one of them. When my Mom was alive out there it was the only way for her to vote and be counted. It is SO important.

Thank you for sharing that, Candace. Vote-by-mail is a lifeline for so many people, just like your Mom. We have to protect it so every single voice is heard!

I am one of those, thank you

I live in Arizona and have always voted by mail. I live in a mobile home park. I have never had a problem with mail in voting. This year however I will hand carry my ballot to the registrars office after I finish voting for every Democrat! I will be 80 on Nov 14. All I want for that is a Landslide Dem victory across this country! Thanks!

That sounds like a very solid plan. Doing whatever makes you feel most secure about your vote is exactly the right move!

Why aren't city and county officials ,who are promoting data centers, held accountable for their back door negotiations regarding data centers without input from the community?

They need to be!

Exactly! However, maybe it is but not getting the attention it deserves or needs.

I think the bottom line is GREED

I vote by mail. Usually, I just mail it back. Early. This time I will vote by mail, but either drive it to the County Clerk's office directly or mail it the day after it comes in the mail. Either way, it'll be early.

Love that plan, Carol! Getting it in early and securely is exactly how we ensure our voices are counted.

The unsupreme court just gave trump cart Blanche on voting by mail, he can do what he wants. I’m so sick of the supreme court and trump. How do we fight this, however if ballots are already going out maybe he can’t stop our votes. Let’s hope so

It is incredibly frustrating, Rose, but our best defense is massive turnout. Getting those ballots in early and ensuring everyone we know is voting is how we fight back!

Run by #CorruptJohnRoberts. Let’s investigate his actions with his wife’s law firm!

Planning to drop off at early voting location or the election office. Did drop box once, but it made me nervous.

I always used the drop box. This year I will hand deliver to the election office. But by no means will I mail my completed ballot. It's pretty scary when we cannot even trust the US Postal Service thanks to the corrupt man in the gold (White) House.

And the Maga postmaster

Hand delivering is a great way to have peace of mind this year, Barbara. We absolutely must protect our postal service and our voting rights!

I grew up in MN, but haven't lived there in decades. My sister, who's lived there her entire life, says that Peggy Flanagan hasn't actually done much of anything for MN, and she voted for Angie Craig. My sister's as liberal as I am, and very tuned in to MN politics.

Thanks for sharing that perspective from your sister, Betsy. It's always helpful to hear how things are playing out on the ground with local voters!

“Raymond Carver turned down a tax cut to keep his neighborhood quiet. Would you?”

Absolutely! Good luck having noise ordinances enforced with those tax cuts.

DeSantis pushed the GOP-dominated Florida legislature to pass Amendment 3 ,on the ballot this Nov, that would reduce real estate taxes while gutting services. The Fl Sheriffs, FOP and Fire Chiefs are all opposed!

Exactly, Kathy! A quiet neighborhood and fully funded local services are worth so much more. Gutting services just to lower taxes is a losing proposition for the community.

I agree. Quiet and taxes that work IN the SERVICE of the taxpayer…you know, stuff like roads, schools, utilities, trash pickup…stuff like that!

Accountability has left this country! Such corruption! It would be easy to throw up one’s hands and give up…

Reporting that you’ve done today puts a spin on things. More than ever we need to find ways to be informed and involved. Don’t forget that WE ARE THE RESISTANCE and we will make a difference.

We are the resistance, Monica! Staying informed, involved, and refusing to give up is how we win. Thank you for your wonderful energy!

100%. Making us give up is the whole purpose of their propaganda machine, but I refuse to let them win.

NC has made it hard to vote by mail with the need of 2 witnesses and a copy of ID, so we have switched to early in person

It is so frustrating to see those hurdles put in place, Deb, but switching to early in-person is a fantastic pivot. Thank you for making sure your vote counts!

NONE OF US can compete with the ANONYMOUS DARK MONEY WEALTHY, but we can SHARE!

The overwhelming support for SENATOR ED MARKEY defines how DARK MONEY & WEALTHY INTERESTS LOST!

SETH MOULTON invested in DEFENSE INDUSTRIES he was regulating & got WEALTHY!

Reported those INVESTMENTS LATE - after the last election.

INSIDER TRADING?

SETH MOULTON also accepted contributions from AIPAC = ANTI-DEMOCRACY that keeps changing names to conceal their identity.

That in addition to attacking TRANS ATHLETES and refusing to amend his vicious comments.

Each of us can go to OPEN SECRETS and research CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS.

That defines candidates who are BOUGHT AND PAID FOR!

In the NOVEMBER ELECTION, Senator Markey will defeat PERENNIAL LIAR CARPETBAGGER JOHN DEATON who voted 3 times in 20 years, is fighting CRIMINAL CHARGES for ASSAULT which will DISBAR him if convicted. JOHN DEATON is so BRAIN DEAD and INCOMPETENT that he attended a SINGLE MEETING and BLABBED AN IRRATIONAL SOLUTION to the STEWARD BANKRUPTCY that paralyzed HEALTH CARE IN MASSACHUSETTS.

This is the CALIBER of LOSING CANDIDATES supported by the MASS GOP!

It was only with solutions and support from DEMOCRATS that some of the services were restored - although not inexpensively or completely.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE DOWNBALLOT has included information about the VICIOUS REPUBLICAN ADS distorting PERSONAL TRAGEDIES!

This is how desperate MAGA REPUBLICANS are!

As a POST SCRIPT:  Senator Markey in his choice of email topics: TRUMP ADMINISTRATION!  (If tRump favors it, it NEVER BENEFITS YOU!)
