Trump Vows to Conquer Gaza

Happy Wednesday morning, readers, and thank you for counting on Today’s American News to bring you news and analysis on the circus that is American politics and entertainment.
Trump duped by Mexico and Canada as tariff tantrums yield nothing… President Trump has delayed tariffs with Mexico and Canada for a month after phone calls with our neighbors’ respective heads of government, claiming he secured major actions out of each country’s leader that will protect U.S. borders. There’s just one problem: Both Mexico and Canada were already doing exactly what Trump is saying he got them to do. Trump bragged that Mexico will station 10,000 armed personnel at the border–less than the 15,000 that are already there. The grand negotiator also claimed credit for Canada’s $1.3 billion investment in protecting its border with the United States, an investment made last year. Canada is also creating the position of a fentanyl czar. Trump’s tariff bluster damaged the U.S. economy and, for our trouble, Mexico gave Trump less than what we had before the threats, while Canada promised to give someone a title.
Winnie the Pooh strikes back… The Associated Press reports, “China announced retaliatory tariffs” including “a slew of measures that go beyond tariffs and cut across different sectors of the U.S. economy” just minutes after Trump’s tariffs on the massive Asian economy went into effect. “China said it would implement a 15% tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas products as well as a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery and large-engine cars imported from the U.S.” China’s State Administration for Market Regulation, meanwhile, announced today that it will open a major antitrust investigation into Google.

GOP senators cave on clowniest clowns in the Trump clown car… An anti-vax weirdo who doesn’t know the difference between Medicaid and Medicare or how the programs are funded to head the nation’s health and human services. A Bashar al-Assad confidant and Kremlin propaganda mouthpiece with whom allies are uncomfortable sharing their intelligence as our nation’s top spy. Both dangerous and historically unqualified. And both apparently just fine with weak-kneed Senate Republicans purporting to be of independent mind while doing Trump’s every deed. Out of fear and worship for Donald Trump, Republican-led senate committees advanced the Robert F. Kennedy and Tusli Gabbard nominations to the full senate. Susan Collins (R-ME), who loves being independent from her party until the time comes to take a stand, trusted Trump’s supreme court nominees to uphold Roe v. Wade. How did that work out? Now she’s trusting Tulsi Gabbard to head up America’s intelligence in a volatile world.
Imperialist Trump adds Gaza Strip “Riviera” to conquest wishlist… Canada, Greenland, the Panama Canal, and now the Gaza Strip are all included on the growing list of Trump’s imperial ambitions. How well does Trump think American destruction of the Palestinian territory would go over with our adversaries and tenuous allies in the Middle East? Trump announced his intentions for the Gaza Strip in a press conference with Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu earlier today. “We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site. Level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings [and] create an economic development." Corporate America’s takeover of Gaza so Trump’s greedy benefactors can make more money? Yikes.
Today’s Buzz
Grammys producer brushes off red carpet backlash toward Bianca Censori and husband Kanye West. “An executive producer for the Grammys is addressing Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori‘s, controversial red carpet moment on Sunday,” notes The Hollywood Reporter. “The rapper and his wife quickly drew heat online after Censori dropped her fur coat on the red carpet ahead of the 2025 awards ceremony, revealing a nearly nude look underneath with an exceedingly sheer minidress and seemingly no underwear.” The Grammys exec’s response: “In the music industry, I guess (artistic black-tie)’s up for interpretation.”
That’s all for today’s chaos. Check back in with us tomorrow for more news and analysis from Today’s American News.
