As Starvation Death Toll Grows in Gaza, Israel Blocks Aid Over Scissors in Child Medical Kits
The decision demonstrates "why there can be no end to the genocide of Palestinians without an end of Israel's control over Gaza," said one human rights lawyer.
With the level of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza residents perilously low and creating what one group last week called "famine-like conditions" throughout the enclave, the United Nations' top official overseeing relief for Palestinians on Tuesday condemned Israel's latest reason for blocking a shipment: It included medical scissors for caring for children. Israel flagged the scissors as a so-called "dual-use" item, suggesting the government feared medical workers in Gaza—where more than 600 attacks on hospitals have pushed the healthcare system toward collapse—would use the scissors as weapons instead of to care for people who have been injured in relentless bombings.

#Gaza: an entire population depends on humanitarian assistance for survival. Very little comes in & restrictions increase.
A truck loaded with aid has just been turned back because it had scissors used in children’s medical kits.
Medical scissors are now added to a long list of banned items the Israeli Authorities classify as “for dual use”. The list includes basic and lifesaving items: from anesthetics, solar lights, oxygen cylinders and ventilators, to water cleaning tablets, cancer medicines and maternity kits.
The clearance of humanitarian supplies + the delivery of basic & critical items need to be facilitated & accelerated.
The lives of 2 million people depend on that, there is no time to waste.
Trump Says Freeing Insurrectionists Would Be One of His 'First Acts'
READ THE ACCOUNTS OF THE CAPITOL RIOTERS. MANY ARRIVED ARMED. MANY ATTACKED & INJURED CAPITOL OFFICERS. SOME HAVE LONG CRIMINAL HISTORIES. SOME HAVE COMMITTED ADDITIONAL CRIMES SINCE JAN 6. IT'S PUBLIC INFORMATION & THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO REMAIN UNINFORMED.
Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has repeatedly vowed to pardon those who took part in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday night that freeing the people who were imprisoned for their involvement in the January 6th insurrection would be one of his "first acts" if he returns to the White House. "My first acts as your next President will be to Close the Border, DRILL, BABY, DRILL, and Free the January 6th Hostages being wrongfully imprisoned!" Trump posted. This isn't the first time Trump has said he would free the prisoners, but him saying it would be one of his "first acts" indicates that he sees it as a priority. He's also been referring to the prisoners as "hostages" in recent months. The prisoners have been charged with everything from assault to seditious conspiracy. "Trump is out there saying he's going to pardon people who engaged in political violence, who bloodied and wounded and hospitalized 150 of our officers," Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said in January. "We better believe him. I mean, he pardoned Roger Stone, a political criminal; he pardoned Michael Flynn, his disgraced former national security adviser," Raskin added. "Now he wants to pardon the shock troops of January 6, so he will have this roving band of people willing to commit political violence and insurrection for him—how dangerous is that?” Three states have attempted to remove Trump from the ballot due to his involvement in the January 6th insurrection—on the grounds that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment disqualifies him—but the Supreme Court ruled last week that Congress would have to act for that to happen. The Supreme Court will rule on whether Trump has presidential immunity in the January 6th case in Washington, D.C. next month.
