In a revelation that spells real trouble for Donald Trump, the New York Times reported, "Federal prosecutors investigating former President Donald J. Trump's handling of classified documents have obtained the confidential cooperation of a person who has worked for him at Mar-a-Lago." This video discusses the value of such a confidential cooperating witness. This reporting also raises the possibility of covert recordings having been made. Covert recordings, whether via having a cooperating witness wear a wire or obtaining a court order authorizing wire taps on phones, can be some of the most devastating evidence available at a criminal trial. Indeed, when wiretap evidence catches a defendant discussion criminal activity on covertly recorded conversations, it's what we call a "just-press-play" trial.
