using public office for personal gain

Sometimes the corruption is almost mundane.

Like when members of Congress buy and sell stocks based on insider information they get before it becomes public.

Like when they don’t disclose large stock trades in clear violation of congressional rules (that Public Citizen helped put in place, by the way).

Like when we don’t know if they paid even the modest fines for breaking those rules.

It’s clear that too many representatives and senators can’t be trusted *not* to use their positions to enrich themselves in the stock market.

Tell Congress:

You are not supposed to exploit public office for personal gain. Since some members of Congress don’t seem to get that, we clearly need a law banning stock trading by representatives and senators.

Add your name now.

Thank you for taking action.

For progress,

- Robert Weissman, President of Public Citizen
