by Bana Negusse
It is indisputable that the situation that has unfolded in recent months in Tigray Region of Ethiopia, as well as some other parts of the Horn of Africa, is challenging. These developments indeed raise serious points of concern. Unfortunately, the incessant spread of disinformation, poor analyses, and shoddy commentary will do little to help in truly understanding the situation or expediting enduring remedies.
Understanding the electoral verdict 2021
by Vidya Bhushan Rawat
We can only say that results of the assembly elections have proved that India will have to learn to live with coalition politics and
attempt to impose one language-one religion-one culture will only prove counterproductive. The only oneness in terms of unity and integrity of India is the supremacy of Constitution and rule of law otherwise all states have their unique local traditions which must be respected and allowed to flourish. Hindutva is defeated but it is not out and for that forces of social justice will have to join hand and work together to stop it.

by Aviral Anand
In its attempts to malign Mamata, to ride roughshod over the culture of Bengal, to polarise the population, and to indulge in some target practice out of an outsized, inflated whim, the BJP tried to spit at the sky. Now they are trying to save face.
When death seeks finality this Covid season
by Sugata Srinivasaraju
Covid-infected bodies are just wrapped in plastic sheets. The saddest pictures are those of people performing last rites wearing PPU kits and circumambulating ambulances in which the body of the relative is lying on a metal stretcher. This is bound to affect people.
Azad ; The poet of revolution
by Shafi Ahmad
What prompted the tall turbaned school teacher to brag about his personality ? When one meanderers through the life history, achievements and the literary work he accomplished ,one feels the void created by leaving this world at the young age of 45 years is too big. His contribution, as a writer, may be summed up as under; As a revolutionary poet he tried to awaken the common Kashmiris from deep slumber. His poetry was instrumental to strike his countrymen and with his revolutionary poetry raise the issue of national respect. His countrymen were suppressed for hundreds of years. In the backdrop of this
hunger and poor health conditions Azad understood the situation and used his poetic talent to infuse fresh energy in the hearts of suppressed inhabitants.
Collective for what? Humility and compassion is the need of time
by Chetan Sinha

Missing something is an extension, a linear path, on which we walked and covered some distance, leaving behind the past, added to the memories, forgotten, retrieved, and moved forward. Above all on the path we never lost our ability to be compassionate but our false image, over emphasized something which we want and missed out the point on which we stand which gives us the sense of identity with every step, connected to something which is eternal as humanity. This is the collectivity we all engage with despite our incompleteness.
Are we heading towards the doom of a democracy or the herald of a new dawn?
by Ganatantrik Adhikar Surakha
Sangathan
It was also seen that after each and every pandemic, the common people went against the king or the head of authority. As a result, there was a change in the system. Can we expect any remarkable changes in the healthcare systems? Can the public health service be extended to every nook and corner of the country?
‘Biden leads again,’ but where to?
by Radhika Desai
On the climate problem as on any other, the Biden administration follows a time-honored U.S. tradition: addressing problems only so long as solutions are profit opportunities for powerful U.S. corporations.
The ideological basis of the new Cold War is clear, and this time the Western powers look set to be on the losing side
by George Szamuely
The ideological divisions of today involve the organization of the international system of states. One side, led by the USA, UK, EU and NATO, subscribes to something it calls the “rules-based international order.” (India claims to follow this.) The other side, led by Russia and China, subscribes to “international law…The principles of this system are set out in the United Nations Charter.
The Uprising in Colombia
by Yanis Iqbal
Sections of the Uribist ultra-right have been vociferating that a decree of “Internal Commotion” is being drafted. This can be compared to a “State of Siege,” where extraordinary powers are given to the president to restrict demonstrations, and take control of radio and television, as well as the power to issue decrees with
the force of law. Undeterred, the oppressed people of continue to push for radical changes.
Potential of Cooperative Movement Not Adequately Realized Yet
by Bharat Dogra
Aggressive forms of capitalism are not only snatching jobs ruthlessly but in addition are also increasing job related discontent, frustration and alienation. At the same time there is growing yearning for forms of economic organizations which can provide more satisfactory, stable, sustainable and creative livelihoods. In this context cooperatives should be getting increasing attention
Decades After A War is Over, Its Destruction Still Continues
by Bharat Dogra
Several decades have passed since the Vietnam war ended, but its destruction has still continued. Sometimes a bomb buried in the ground suddenly
explodes, and people still die from their impact. These bombs, after all, were designed not so much to destroy buildings but to kill people.
