Armed goons tried to intimidate Florida voters

Yesterday, two armed goons set up a tent outside an early voting polling location in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

They claimed they were hired by the Trump campaign. The campaign denied it, but the real risk is Donald Trump repeatedly encouraging his supporters to “watch” the polls.

Fortunately, local elected officials from both parties denounced this voter intimidation, and Florida is one of the six states that has a blanket ban on guns at polling places.

Laws like this are in jeopardy if Amy Coney Barrett sits on the Supreme Court though. Listen to my conversation with Adam Skaggs of the Giffords Law Center to find out more about her dangerous views.

Adam noted that white supremacist rhetoric and violence has exploded over the last 3.5 years – and he warned that overturning gun safety laws will only make it worse:

“I don't think these kinds of judicial decisions will do anything other than increase and accelerate that same rhetoric and that same violence and potential for violence.”

As Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination moves to the full Senate for a final debate and vote, tune in for a better understanding of what’s at stake for the future of lifesaving gun laws.

Thank you for listening,

Igor Volsky, Executive Director
