Sunday Message From Meidas Founder Ben Meiselas and MeidasTouch Network Apr 6 By Ben Meiselas It’s Sunday. For those new to this Substack, I deliver a Sunday message each week. I ask our Subscribers here to grab a coffee or tea or water or whatever while we chat and reflect. I am so damn proud of you. What you did this weekend was historic. You showed up and rallied and spread the word about the Hands Off protests. Thousands of protests sprung up across America and the world. You sent a powerful message. The Trump regime and Musk are detested. MAGA is detested. The pro-democracy community is on the offense now! Corporate news tried to suppress it and downplay the size and scope of the protests. They couldn’t do it. The MeidasTouch Network gets far more views than any of the corporate news now. We partnered with MoveOn and other organizations who led the protests, and we streamed the protests live. We then meticulously covered the protests from all angles and on all of our platforms. On YouTube alone, our protest coverage got over 4 million views. I expect it will be closer tomorrow to 7 million views by the end of today. We also had thousands of MeidasMighty members embedded in protests across the country, sending us photos and videos which we reposted and shared. This past week was particularly difficult. Trump intentionally and maliciously crashed the markets as part of his retribution campaign. I know how difficult these times are. I hear you. We at the MeidasTouch Network do more than just produce news content. The most important thing I tell my team to do is to listen to you and hear what you are going through. I want you to know we will never stop fighting for you, no matter what Trump and Musk and MAGA throw our way and try to do to us. Despite the harm Trump inflicted, I’ve heard so many of you share how you felt this weekend. Hope. I felt hope seeing the millions of people, in the aggregate, in the thousands of cities rise up this weekend. I feel hope seeing Democratic leaders finally stand up and fight. I feel hope that we have this media network and that we have inspired an ecosystem of other networks to fight for you. I feel hope. I feel energized. And I know this is all just the beginning. I know that as big as the protests were this weekend, this is but an appetizer and foreshadowing of what is to come in the next weeks and months. The protests will grow and grow. This will be a moment like no other in the history of our country. We treat our role at the MeidasTouch Network to meet this moment as a life-or-death task, since we know for you that is how you feel when you wake up every day. Corporate news has failed to meet the moment or they have intentionally kissed the fascist ring and submitted. Screw them! We don’t need them. Senators Chris Murphy and Tim Kaine on Trump's Corrupt Scheme

This week on the MeidasTouch Podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with two of the most fired-up and fearless fighters in the U.S. Senate: Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut and Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia. It was their first time on the show together, and these two came ready to fight.

We got right into it. While Trump and his billionaire cronies like Elon Musk are busy tanking the global economy and calling it “Liberation Day,” Senators Murphy and Kaine are calling it what it actually is: a full-blown recession in the making, designed not to help workers, but to punish Trump’s enemies and funnel wealth to his friends.

Murphy didn’t mince words. He laid out how Trump’s tariffs aren’t just bad policy—they’re intentional political weapons. If you’re a company that wants relief from Trump’s economic chaos? You’d better kiss the ring. Maybe buy some Trump Crypto Coin while you’re at it. This isn’t leadership. It’s mob-style corruption.

Kaine even gave Trump a new nickname: “Trumpelstiltskin.” Because instead of spinning straw into gold, he’s taking gold—a strong economy he inherited—and turning it into straw. The man is a chaos machine, and working Americans are paying the price.

But here’s the part that got me, and I think it’ll get you too: these Senators aren’t sitting around whining. They’re doing the work. Kaine’s using little-known Senate rules to force votes the Republicans can’t block. Murphy is ramping up content and town halls, meeting Trump’s volume with truth, clarity, and urgency. Their strategy? Flood the zone. Fight on every front. Never back down. It’s great to see that our voices are finally being heard in the halls of Congress.

Murphy put it perfectly: Everything Trump and his cronies are doing is about empowering oligarchs and silencing the rest of us. That’s why we need a mass mobilization—like what we saw in 2017 when we stopped them from repealing the Affordable Care Act. And guess what? We can do it again.

Kaine said it best: Come America’s 250th birthday in 2026, we’re going to celebrate democracy, not mourn its loss or suffer a dictator’s coronation. But that only happens if we fight. Every single day.

Hands Off! Joyce Vance Apr 5 All across the country, people got out and protested today. Big rallies and small ones. In some places, people lined city streets and waved at passing cars. Elsewhere, people gathered in parks or in front of state office buildings. Birmingham, Alabama, was one of those cities. I was excited to see some friends who confided they had never been to a protest before, but thought it was important to be there today. Because we are a community where the economy is fueled by doctors and research done at the University, there were a lot of medical professionals in the crowd, protesting cuts in research work and in the provision of medical care. The LGBTQ community turned out even though they were fearful, as did people protesting Trump’s immigration policies. And there were some Trump voters there too, people who voted for a better economy and got this, whatever this is, instead. Like people across the country, we gathered. Some of my favorite signs were simple and elegant in expressing their message, like this one. My favorite sign was carried by some close friends. I feel the same way when I think about my Grandfather. It was a crowd full of angry people. We are southerners, so we were polite about it as we visited with neighbors and made new friends, but the anger was palpable. If Donald Trump thinks we’re going back quietly, he’s wrong. I ran into not one, but two people wearing the fabulous re-SIS-tence tee-shirts from the Sisters in Law podcast. There were some seriously artistic people in the crowd. It was a gorgeous day here and people enjoyed themselves, but it was also deadly serious. Friends tagged in from across the country. Americans understand what’s at stake. And, from Chattanooga. So many people referred to Cory Booker when they talked about why they were there, a reminder that our own acts can inspire other people to stand for democracy too. Booker told Aaron Parnas in an interview shortly after he finished his tremendous 25-hour filibuster on the Senate floor that we each have to be “little points of ignition” now. “Demanding more of ourselves,” that’s what Cory Booker says comes next. But for today, it was enough to march and to be with friends and fellow American. Courage is contagious. Marching provides encouragement for people who aren’t in the thick of things in Washington or New York. Big protests, little protests, it’s all part of the great cacophony of democracy and a reminder that we still have rights and power, if we are willing to exercise them. Today, Americans marched. We made it clear: We have no intention of sitting down and accepting the end of democracy. If you marched today, tell us about it. We’re in this together, Joyce
