Killing as sport Steve Schmidt Sep 9 America’s Secretary of War is a buffoon. He requires 24/7 attendance by his wife Jenny — known as “Yoko Ono” at the Pentagon — so that he can keep his hands off the ladies, and his lips off of the bottle. Jenny is a busy woman. Imagine the respect that she engenders when walking next to the War Secretary en route to his make-up room for another Fox News hit on how much he loves Donald Trump, and saying the word “lethality.” One thing is for sure: Pete Hegseth is lethally incompetent. On Sunday, the White House deleted a video that celebrated his military record, claiming that he had received a Bronze Star Medal for valor that he did not receive. Like the Medgar Evers gravesite information that has been removed from the Arlington Cemetery website, it has suddenly disappeared from the Pentagon website. Hegseth, a wannabe tough guy who does his pull-ups with an underhand grip, received a Bronze Star for meritorious service. This was a standard issue award for most every company-grade officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pete Hegseth and JD Vance have bloodied themselves. They seem excited to announce their convictions about being able to kill anyone, anywhere, at anytime on the basis of their word alone because — as we all know — if Trump or Leavitt, Lutnick or Rubio, Vance or Hegseth, Pirro or Noem, or Bondi or Homan says it — it must be true. Here’s the thing: some things just don’t make sense. The Venezuelan terror boat had 11 passengers. Why did it have 11 passengers aboard if it was a smuggling boat — when speed and fuel efficiency matter? More people means more weight, which means more fuel and slower speeds. The Trump regime has claimed that the Venezuelan terror boat was headed to the United States. Another lie. Venezuela lies 1,729 nautical miles from the Florida Keys. The boat that was destroyed lacked the fuel range to reach it. No doubt the destination of the ship will soon be recalibrated, and the American people told it was headed to Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands. The lying is nothing new, but what is new is that the lies are now about killing, and JD Vance and Pete Hegseth seem to think that killing is fun. They think it’s sport. I think it’s a sign of their depravity, and specifically, I think this is a sign of both deep national decay, rising lawlessness, deep danger and an affront to the values, ethics, professionalism and integrity of the United States military. It is increasingly infected by the joint issues of political extremism, moral rot and low morale. Killing is not something to celebrate.
