Trump’s masked ICE army is out of control

 

Donald Trump's masked army of ICE agents are attacking landscapers, construction workers, and other everyday people using flash-bang grenades, nightsticks, and tear gas.¹

They've been caught on tape pointing guns at bystanders and brutally beating U.S. citizens who just happen to find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.²

Those snatched up are then vanishing into a legal no-man's-land, with thousands sent to countries with horrific human rights records to be imprisoned, tortured, or simply disappeared.³ Others are dying in ICE custody before they ever get to talk to a lawyer or see a judge.⁴

This is authoritarianism in action — and we're fighting back.

Imagine the terror you would feel if you were walking down the street and a masked man carrying an AR-15 assault rifle grabbed you and threw you into an unmarked van.

No ID. No badge. No arrest warrant. No lawyer. No explanation. Next thing you know, you're in a detention cell, or maybe put on a plane to a state or country you've never seen.

That's what is happening to people across America on a daily basis.⁶

Trump insists he's going after the "worst of the worst," but we know that's not true. The majority of those who have been detained and deported have no criminal convictions at all.⁷ And since ICE is openly defying court orders and evading due process, it's impossible to know how many legal residents may have been caught up in Trump's mass deportation dragnet.

The good news is that a bipartisan grassroots backlash is growing. States and cities around the country are taking action to hold ICE accountable, and legislation was just introduced in the U.S. Senate by Cory Booker and Alex Padilla that would require ICE agents to show their faces and provide clear identification.⁸
