Thank you for contacting me about the Great American Outdoors Act (S. 3422). It was good to hear from you about this issue.
During the global coronavirus pandemic, I want you to know that I share your concern for your loved ones and your safety is my top priority. I encourage you to stay up to date with the latest information by following my coronavirus resource page and following our public health officials:

In response to your message about the Great American Outdoors Act, I have long worked to protect the environment, our public lands, and wild areas. I will continue to support efforts to protect our public lands from expanded drilling and mining activities, preserve our wild places, and support our national parks.
I am a cosponsor of the Great American Outdoors Act (S. 3244), which includes the Restore Our Parks Act and a bill to provide mandatory and permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund. This bill was introduced on March 10, 2020 and placed onto the Senate general calendar, and I will continue to support this legislation as it moves forward.
Our national parks have rightly been called America's best idea. From Glacier National Park to Cape Cod National Seashore, the National Park Service preserves America's treasures for all citizens and future generations to enjoy. In the Senate, I have worked to protect our public lands that help support thousands of jobs and serve as an economic driver across our country.
Massachusetts is home to numerous National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges and other protected public lands. These sanctuaries support our state and local economies while protecting wildlife species and our environment. I will continue to oppose proposals put forward by President Trump and his administration to turn over our public lands to special interests and instead fight for policies that preserve our public lands for future generations, promote clean energy development and protect our climate.
Thank you again for contacting me about this issue. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can leave me a message at http://markey.senate.gov/contact. You can also follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
Sincerely,
Edward J. Markey
United States Senator
