In 1968 my 22 year old sister nearly died from having to carry her dead baby inside of her for 2 weeks. She nearly hemorrhaged to death then had sepsis because no abortions were allowed then. I'm tired of this coward who evaded the military with lies. If he's talking he's lying.
I’m sorry your family experienced that. Unfortunately, many people on both sides of the abortion debate fail to understand that your sister’s experience was not at all the same thing as an elective induced abortion. The word “abort” means to bring to a premature end. When an embryo or fetus dies in utero for unknown reasons (a premature but natural death) it is clinically known as a “spontaneous abortion”, and colloquially known as miscarriage or stillbirth depending on gestational age. Because it can take some time (days to weeks depending on gestational age) for the pregnancy hormone made initially by the embryo and later by the placenta to dissipate after unexpected fetal demise, it can unfortunately mean that our bodies do not recognize that the fetus has, in fact, died. In cases where the life-giving part of pregnancy has ended, because the tiny new life has died, then it is absolutely considered best care practice to provide medical assistance to resolve an “incomplete spontaneous abortion”. The tools and techniques are the same as those used in elective induced abortion, but the intent is very different. Unfortunately, too many people in the prolife community don’t understand the difference and unfortunately have fought to ban the mechanics of the process regardless to the life/death status of the baby they want to protect. I’m sorry, but once the embryo/ fetus dies… nothing in human power can bring it back to life. On the other side of the debate, abortion providers (especially for profit providers) will also capitalize on the confusion the general population has about the use of the word abortion, claiming that all people who identify as prolife want to ban all usage of the procedure and techniques regardless of the life or death status of the fetus or embryo. From a truly pro life perspective, the medical resolution of an incomplete spontaneous abortion is the morally and ethically right thing to do. And should be viewed in the same way as treating a retained placenta, and should not be conflated with elective induced abortion. Intent matters.
