There was some encouraging news from the Democratic Party yesterday. It plans to ensure its consultants aren’t engaging in anti-union activity.
BUT, what about the Democratic Party’s own lawmakers? Rep. Henry Cuellar was the ONLY House Democrat to vote against the PRO Act — legislation that would empower workers to freely and fairly form unions, strengthening labor rights in America. Isn’t Cuellar’s vote “anti-union activity?”
We think so and it’s why we recruited Jessica Cisneros to run against him in TX-28. Jessica’s runoff against Cuellar is less than 5 weeks away, and we need your help to elect Democrats who will back THE PEOPLE, not union-busting corporations.
Can you split a contribution of $10 right now to Jessica’s campaign and Justice Democrats? Your grassroots donations will support our work to elect Jessica and a slate of progressive primary challengers who will always fight for workers.
We know corporations, Big Oil, and Republican mega-donors are backing Cuellar. We know pro-life groups are backing the anti-abortion incumbent. Cuellar is out-of-step with even the Democratic establishment. But he still has the support of Democratic House leadership, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
We agree with the Democratic Party’s move to ensure its consultants don’t engage in anti-union activity. We also believe Democrats should be backing the choice for unions and workers in TX-28, that’s why we’re backing Jessica.
We’re working to transform the Democratic Party by electing progressives who will truly put the people first. That’s why we have to unseat corporate Democrats who care more about protecting corporate profits than protecting workers. Jessica and our entire 2022 Justice Democrats slate will always fight for workers.
Thank you for all that you do to support our work and our primary candidates.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
