Today is a difficult day for the community of Columbine, the state of Colorado, and America at large. Today marks 23 years since the horrific mass shooting at Columbine High School. No matter how many years pass, events like this leave an indelible impression. All of us who were alive at the time remember where we were when it happened. We remember the sense of dread and sorrow that hung over the nation.
The startling truth is that there are so many in this country, including leaders in the gun violence prevention movement, who weren’t yet born when this tragedy struck. But they all have their own memories. Memories of Parkland, Aurora, Sandy Hook… the list goes on. Too little has been done in this country to prevent these tragedies from being a daily occurrence.
Today we remember all those whose lives were stolen on that dark day in Columbine, and we reaffirm our mission to honor them with action.

Together, we will keep fighting for a safer future where losses like this are a distant memory and not a daily reality.
