FOR PROFIT ORGANS????? OPTN Board Raises Alarm About Organ Transplant System Structure

The future of organ donation is in serious jeopardy and we need to act urgently.

Last week, members of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) Board raised the alarm that the Federal Government is drastically changing how and by whom our organ donation and transplantation system is run. This unusual public statement by the Board directly aligns with our long-held fears that behind the scenes, the system is being set up for privatization. You can read the letter by clicking here.

This is a crisis: the makeup of the waiting list, how organs are allocated and how patients and donor families are treated are all on the line. We are just weeks away from the Federal Government moving forward with its plan.

We Need to Act Now.

·       Call or email your lawmakers and demand that they “Save Organ Donation” by keeping the system nonprofit and stopping HRSA - the Health Resources and Services Administration - from changing how it is run.
