Meet Griswold

Americans for Contraception

Friend,

On this day in 1965, the Supreme Court established a right to contraception. In that decision, Griswold v. Connecticut, the court ruled that Connecticut’s ban on contraception violated the right to marital privacy. It was a huge step forward for Americans’ freedom.

But the right to contraception has never been codified in law, and the justices of 2024 don’t see our rights the same way as the justices of 1965. In fact, when the court overturned Roe v. WadeJustice Clarence Thomas wrote the court should also “reconsider” Griswold.

We can’t allow extremists to set us back 60 years. So today, as we celebrate the decision that established the right to contraception, let’s keep pushing to make it a federal law so the Supreme Court can’t take it away.

It may sound like a small action, but people across the U.S. need to know about the threat to our right to contraception. Right-wing extremists want us to feel cynical. They want us to feel powerless. They want us to think the fight for contraception is over or that it’s not a fight we can win.

They’re dead wrong.

Let’s go,
