As a veteran of the U.S Navy having served 10 years during a time of war. I have to say I am profoundly disappointed in the people of this country. I went into the military at 17.5 years old and had Red ,White, and Blue colored glasses on. I believed that our government only engaged in righteous conflicts, and did the right thing.. It didn't take me long to grow disillusioned of that myth. I decided that I wasn't serving the government of the U.S.A. I was serving the people, i was defending the people, and when things changed to the point where I was supporting the naval air force that was only fighting to secure oil rights for the richest 1%. I got out. All that being said, I still believed that the American people, everyday Americans were at the core good people that for the most part believed as I did. Believed in equality, fairness, justice, and democracy. This past November, that myth was also ripped from me. I watched people I had grown up with, who i feel are intelligent and honorable people cast their vote for a convicted felon, watched them vote for a person who has outright said he will work to take away their right to bodily autonomy, watched them vote for someone that says HE WILL BE A FASCIST, cause day one be damned, once a fascist , always a fascist. It was then that I lost hope. When the written word of the constitution has lost all its power, because of some very rich judges who were installed to the highest court in the land by very shady means. Then where is the rule of law?? because the foundation of the law, the equality of the law, the unbiased application of the law is gone. in this climate, where The Supreme Court has twisted the law to favor the rich and powerful, then they have effectively said there is no law. This country was founded because of unjust taxes, and laws. Laws that applied to thee, not me. Those things caused a Revolution, which we had no hope of winning, but did. Now with the way simple language of the constitution has been twisted, and warped, elections feel like a hollow endeavor. A means to placate those who will soon be feeling the consequences of the votes of people that are incapable of thinking for themselves, or let the fearmongering of the MAGA crowd cow them into seeing the boogeyman everywhere. I don't know I guess I've lost faith in the inherent goodness of the people of this country. Which I'm afraid won't really see the end coming until its too late. Just like the German people, who couldn't see the darkness engulfing them until it was too late to escape it
You can’t even get a job for the government if you have a felony or be a cop just imagine this guy is gonna be a criminal running our country Sickening…..
Shame on all Americans who voted for Trump. Shame on the Supreme Court. I'm thoroughly disgusted. 18+ years of my service in the military to protect the constitution and defend the United States of America has come to this. My goal is to be living elsewhere in the world by the next presidential election. I've no appetite for the complete corruption and coming presidentially sanctioned violence. My children deserve better.
