Across the country right now, hundred-year-old trees are being slashed and cleared. Wildflower meadows are being paved over. Critical animal habitats are being turned into parking lots and strip malls. America is home to stunning natural landscapes that sustain our planet and communities. But we are losing more and more of them every day to industrial development. Public lands are some of the last refuges protected from being bought and destroyed by greedy companies. But even our public lands are at risk of being leased to the highest fossil fuel bidder to drill, mine, and frack away these precious wild places. The Department of Interior is now poised to lease public lands in Colorado to greedy polluters. It’s only accepting public input on this decision for a few more days! We need you to sign by 11:59pm TONIGHT to hit our signature goal and help REJECT greedy polluters on Colorado public lands! Add your name! >> Drilling and fracking on public lands harms nearby communities. Fracking can sometimes TRIGGER EARTHQUAKES! Worse, its wastewater can sometimes contaminate local drinking water with RADIOACTIVE WASTE! That’s not to mention the blistering headaches and foul odors living near fracking can cause. Here’s the bottom line: leasing public lands to fossil fuel companies is good for no one but the greedy executives running these companies. Nearby communities suffer. Our planet suffers. We lose out on the natural landscapes that are rapidly shrinking every day. That’s where you come in. will you take just 30 seconds to tell the Department of Interior to CANCEL the Colorado public lands lease sale before it’s too late? Standing with you, Nicole Ghio Fossil Fuels Program Manager, Friends of the Earth |
