Since grizzly bears were granted protections under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) in 1975, grizzlies in the lower 48 states have started to rebound, restoring their population from 800 bears to almost 2,000.
However, for an animal that once roamed freely in its native North American terrain, that number is still frighteningly low. And with brutal trophy hunters recklessly murdering these iconic mammals in droves, grizzly bears are getting closer to EXTINCTION every day.
We’ve already seen how effective ESA protections are in the recovery of vulnerable wildlife like bears. But rather than strengthening these policies to safeguard our grizzlies, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) is currently considering COMPLETELY DELISTING GRIZZLY BEARS from being covered under the ESA’s safeguards — putting this dwindling bear population in even further danger of being TOTALLY WIPED OUT by violent hunters.
We can’t allow extremist politicians and their hunting lobby friends to reverse decades of conservation efforts of this nationally treasured species. We must speak up NOW if we’re going to SAVE grizzly bears. Can defenseless grizzlies count on you to be a voice for them today? Add your name now to demand ESA protections for grizzly bears before it’s too late! >>
Trophy hunters show absolutely NO mercy when killing harmless grizzly bears. They deploy some of the cruelest and most inhumane hunting methods like bait, poison, traps, rifles, and even dynamite to blow up helpless cubs asleep in their dens!
Mama bears will do anything to protect their fragile cubs who are too weak to survive on their own. But even the fiercest mama bear can’t compete with the powerful and advanced weaponry that hunters use to violently massacre grizzlies. And when mama bear doesn’t return home to the den, her sweet, orphaned cubs are left alone to DIE of starvation or hypothermia.
No animal or living being deserves the tortuous persecution that vicious hunters subject these innocent bears to. The Endangered Species Act is one of the strongest policy tools that we have to safeguard grizzlies — and they absolutely cannot afford to lose these life-saving ESA protections.
You have the chance to make a meaningful difference in the fate of grizzly bears today: FWS is deliberating on whether to remove or keep federal ESA protections for grizzlies while you’re reading this email, and every single petition signature from grassroots activists like you has a CRUCIAL impact on saving this keystone species from extinction. Grizzlies are in trouble, but your action today could help spare countless bear lives. Help us send a powerful message to FWS and demand ESA protections for grizzly bears immediately! >>
Thanks for being a voice for our precious grizzly bears,
Friends of the Earth
