Republican Representative Elise Stefanik made a complete fool of herself this week by filing an ethics complaint against special prosecutor Jack Smith. In her complaint to the Department of Justice, Stefanik claimed that Smith is trying to "unlawfully interfere in the presidential election" by prosecuting Donald Trump, citing a non-official rule at the DOJ that technically wouldn't even apply to this situation. Farron Cousins explains how badly Stefanik screwed up in her filing. Link - https://thehill.com/homenews/house/46... Republican representative Elise Stefanik, who of course is the house, GOP conference chair. So she's the third ranking Republican in the house. This week, she tried to rush to Donald Trump's defense once again by filing an ethics complaint against special prosecutor Jack Smith. And in her complaint submitted of course to the Department of Justice itself. Elise Stefan said, you have to get rid of Jack Smith and punish him, not just get rid of him, but you also have to like punish him because he is clearly trying to influence the 2024 election by prosecuting Donald Trump. Let me read you this from this idiot's complaint, it's obvious to any reasonable observer that Jack Smith is trying to interfere with the 24 20 24 election and stop the American people from electing Donald Trump. At every turn he has sought to accelerate his illegal prosecution of President Trump. For the clear, if unstated purpose of trying him before the November election, Smith's conduct has brought disrepute to the Department of Justice and the entire federal government and the Office of Professional responsibility should implo impose the discipline that such conduct warrants, which would be what, right? Why don't you go ahead and spell it out for us? What do you want us to do? Here's the thing, um, Elise, this complaint, this ethics complaint is gonna go nowhere. You know how I know that? Not just because it's totally bogus and based on made up points that you just created outta thin air, but also because the last time you tried to do this to somebody that was trying to hold Trump responsible, it also didn't go anywhere. See if you'll remember last fall, late last fall, Elise Stefanik also filed an ethics complaint against Judge Arthur Eron arguing that Eron, who was overseeing Trump's fraud trial, uh, was somehow also trying to interfere with the 2024 election. Um, and the Justice Department was like, this is ridiculous. We're not gonna like, no, we're not gonna even entertain your idiotic request. Not to mention, she's saying that what Jack Smith is doing by bringing the charges against Donald Trump is somehow illegal. Like she is literally telling the people who hired Jack Smith, right? The Department of Justice, they picked him, they gave him this job to do go prosecute Trump, and now she's saying, Hey, I don't know if you guys know this, but this guy's doing an illegal prosecution. And the DOJ is probably like, yeah, we, we hired him and therefore it's not illegal. He's not just some weirdo who walked into court one day and said, I'm prosecuting Trump. Like, no. We literally singled him out and said, go do this. So why, why are you telling us what we did? Because we, we, we know what we did, and we know why we did it. And uh, yeah, we're we're not gonna just say, oh, okay, Elise Is an idiot because not only is she telling the group that hired Jack Smith, that Jack Smith is doing what they hired him to do, but she's also trying to say that, hey, the DOJ has a rule, you know, the 60 day rule where you, uh, you can't do anything to a candidate for office 60 days before the election. And here's the thing, it's not even a rule actually, it's just a guideline. It's something they like to keep, you know, there. But she's also wrong about what that so-called rule says, 'cause the 60 day rule, and I hate calling it a rule again 'cause it's not steadfast, they don't have to follow it if they don't want to. But the 60 day idea is that you can't open a new investigation into a political candidate within 60 days of the election. You can't bring charges against them 60 days before the election. It has nothing to do with when you can bring the trial. 'cause the charges against Donald Trump, they all dropped last year. So there's that. Also, there's the point, and I don't think Elise Stefanik understands this 'cause I don't think she has the brain cells to understand it. Um, Jack Smith doesn't set the trial dates yet. Idiot. The judges do that.
