This will be our most critical deadline yet. Please stick with us as we explain.
When the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade dropped on Friday, we felt the intense grief and outrage with the rest of the country. But we also immediately took action to prepare for our next steps to help the people who will face a dangerous or unwanted pregnancy.
We knew that we needed to support our District Attorneys because they are the first line of defense and can IMMEDIATELY start working against the ruling by refusing to prosecute against abortion cases. In fact, 84 DAs including ALL 24 of our elected DAs have already taken this pledge.
This is the legal aspect we need in this fight to work in tandem with the reproductive rights and abortion justice groups working on the ground. That is why we have made it our number one priority to defend our current District Attorneys who have taken the pledge and work to elect even more this year.
Can you make a donation right now towards the monthly goal for our new DA Defense fund so we make sure we have the resources to defend them?
All 24 of our DAs have given their word to the people who have been betrayed by the Supreme Court to protect reproductive rights. 8 of these DAs are in states like Texas, Missouri, and Mississippi where trigger laws banning abortion have already or will soon go into effect.
We saw how our opponents used lies and misinformation to recall Chesa Boudin in San Francisco. They are just getting started: Republicans are attempting to recall Larry Krasner in Philly, ALL of our DAs in Virginia, and pass a law to allow recalls of our DAs in New York. Our Texas DAs also have really tough challenges against Republicans in November.
The amount we raise NOW will determine how hard we can push to fight back against these attacks and elect even more DAs who will refuse to criminalize abortions.
District Attorneys have the authority and power to block so much of the upcoming damage — so we need to make sure they have the support they need to fight back.
Thank you,
Real Justice
