Dear Friend,
We are now barely 50 days before polls will close and the fate of our nation will be revealed. The weeks ahead could not be more urgent and more meaningful, which is why I am fully devoting myself to the work of America, America and getting the word out in multiple media platforms about what’s at stake. Even as we worry about the outcome of the election, hasn’t the emergence and rise of Kamala Harris been deeply satisfying?
Earlier this week, immediately after the debate, I decided to write my summary and analysis on what had happened, what I called “The Demolition of Donald Trump.” I am happy to report that this effort, completed and published just before 2 AM E.T., quickly became the top post that I’ve written in more than three years publishing America, America. This surely represents our community’s awareness of the seriousness of this moment, along with the growing engagement with this newsletter.
That’s why, beyond my typical schedule of publishing Monday, Friday and Saturday, I am committed to responding to events as they come and sharing my views with you. That means experimenting with format and schedule—including more original videos and Snapshot essays here—and doing more interviews on television and radio, including several highly enjoyable conversations in the last month on The Stephanie Miller Show.
To keep all this going, I hope that you will consider now becoming a paid subscriber. For the next three days, I am offering a 20% discount in hopes of encouraging your participation. (That’s $40, averaging a mere $3.33 a month.)
America, America has continued to experience overall growth and impassioned engagement. This is such a critical time to build alliances, enrich our thinking, look toward a positive future with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, and motivate our various networks to do what they can to defeat the malignant danger of Donald Trump and his craven, anti-democratic enablers.
To get the word out far and wide, I make a point of keeping most of the content available for everyone. But I keep the comments section exclusive to paid subscribers except with Saturday Prompts—both as one of the perks along with access to exclusive live chats, but also as a way to ensure that this space is a rewarding forum to share your insights and observations without the abuse of trolls. I can tell you that the quality of these conversations is deeply fulfilling to me and I think for most everyone who participates. Won’t you become a paid subscriber and be a more active participant with a special 20 percent discount?
Whether you become a paid subscriber or not, do know that I am grateful for your involvement with the America, America community. And if you are a senior citizen on a fixed income or an educator, reach out to let me know if you would like a half-price subscription.
Even as Trump’s campaign appears to be faltering and Harris-Walz is thriving, let’s not doubt there will be tough days to come. But let’s also remain clear that we can accomplish more together than we can individually. We have the ability to determine the outcome of November’s elections, less than two months from now.
Upward and Onward,
Steven
