Germany voted in 1933 and did not vote again until 1949 when Hitler was killed along with 20 million other people. Hindenburg appointed Hitler as Chancellor of Germany in January 1933. Upon Hindenburg's death in 1934 Hitler de facto assumed the presidency, which he combined with the chancellorship to become the Führer und Reichskanzler.
He gained control by creating The Enabling Law. On the 23 March 1933, Hitler proposed the Enabling Law to the Reichstag. This new law gave Hitler the power to rule by decree rather than passing laws through the Reichstag and the president. If passed, the law would establish the conditions needed for dictatorial rule. The law needed two thirds vote which he got after Hitler had promised to protect the interests of the Catholic Church, the party conceded and supported the bill.
Hitler made it illegal to not be a loyalist to his party. It was illegal to be a member of any other party and if you were you were arrested, jailed and some killed. Trumps ex wife, Ivana, told her lawyer that Trump would listen to Hitler speeches over and over. She also told him he slept with the book Mein Kampf on his bedside table. Be careful who you vote for.
