On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court (stacked with far-right justices appointed by Donald Trump) issued their Dobbs decision, overturning Roe v. Wade. For the first time in more than 50 years, people in the United States no longer held the constitutional right to abortion.
Two years later, 14 states have banned abortion, with 7 more issuing extreme restrictions. Access to legal abortion has essentially been wiped out in the South.
Now more than ever, we need pro-abortion champions in Congress — especially as Trump and the GOP threaten to ban abortion nationwide and roll back access to IVF and birth control.
In Missouri’s 1st congressional district, Cori Bush is the ONLY candidate we can count on to fight for reproductive rights. In her upcoming Democratic primary, she faces an AIPAC-backed challenger being propped up by a flood of donations from anti-abortion GOP megadonors — the same right-wing millionaires and billionaires who’ve supported Trump and other Republicans. Not only that, but he once served as the campaign manager of a conservative Republican who opposed abortion.
Why should we believe he’ll defend abortion in Congress better than Cori?

Cori knows firsthand the crucial importance of being able to make decisions about one’s own body, health, and family: in 2021, she courageously shared her personal story of getting an abortion after she was sexually assaulted as a teenager.
In March, she became the first Democratic member of Congress to demand a repeal of the Comstock Act, an outdated 1873 ‘zombie law’ that Republicans are trying to use to ban abortion pills and procedures nationwide.
Cori is the only true progressive Democrat in this race with the lived experience and track record of fighting for reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy. The man challenging her may say he’ll protect reproductive rights, but his donations and work history tell another story.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
